California Rhinoplasty
"California Rhinoplasty" is a song and an EP by Matmos. The song is originally found on their 2001 album ''A Chance to Cut Is a Chance to Cure''. The recording is composed entirely from samples of plastic surgery performed in California ( rhinoplasty, endoscopic forehead lift, chin implants), augmented by a nose flute. California Rhinoplasty EP Matmos subsequently released an EP by the same title, featuring their cover of Coil's ''Disco Hospital'', as well as two contributed remixes of ''California Rhinoplasty''. Matmos
Matmos is an experimental electronic music duo originally from San Francisco but now residing in Baltimore. M. C. (Martin) Schmidt and Drew Daniel are the core members, but they frequently include other artists on their records and in their performances, including notably J Lesser. Apart from releasing twelve full-length studio albums and numerous collaborative works, Matmos is also well known for their collaboration with Icelandic singer and musician Björk, both on studio recordings and live tours. After being signed to Matador Records for nine years, Matmos signed with Thrill Jockey in 2012. The nose flute is a musical instrument often played in Polynesia and the Pacific Rim countries. Other versions are found in Africa. Anthony Child (born 1 May 1971), better known as Surgeon, is an English electronic musician and DJ. Child releases music on his own labels Counterbalance and Dynamic Tension. Established imprints, such as Tresor, Soma, and Harthouse, have also released Surgeon's original material and remixes. He has also been recognized as one of the first wave of DJs to use Ableton Live and Final Scratch to supplement his DJ sets. History Child grew up in Kislingbury, in Northamptonshire, England. In 1989, he moved to Birmingham to study audio-visual design, where he played in a jazz/rock/fusion band called Blim, and learned to DJ from friend Paul Damage. Matthew Herbert (born 1972), also known as Herbert, Doctor Rockit, Radio Boy, Mr. Vertigo, Transformer, and Wishmountain, is a British electronic musician. He often takes sounds from everyday items to produce electronic music. Coil (band)
Coil were an English experimental music group formed in 1982 in London and dissolved in 2005.
