Calgary Boomers
The Calgary Boomers were a Canadian soccer team that competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) for the 1980–81 Indoor and 1981 outdoor seasons. The team was based in Calgary and played their home games at Stampede Corral during the indoor season and McMahon Stadium for outdoor matches. Originally founded as the Memphis Rogues, the team relocated to Calgary when it was purchased by Nelson Skalbania after the 1980 season. After loses of over $2 million during its operations, the team was placed into receivership and its assets sold. McMahon Stadium
McMahon Stadium is a Canadian football stadium in Calgary, Alberta. The stadium is owned by the University of Calgary and operated by the McMahon Stadium Society. The stadium is between the downtown core and the University of Calgary, north of 16 Avenue NW between Crowchild Trail and University Drive. It is within walking distance of the Banff Trail C-Train station. It is the home venue for the University of Calgary Dinos, Calgary Colts of the Canadian Junior Football League, Calgary Gators and Calgary Wolfpack of the Alberta Football League, and the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League, who played at Mewata Stadium from 1935 to 1959. Victor Kodelja
Victor Kodelja (born November 26, 1951) is a former member of the Canadian national soccer team and North American Soccer League. Professional Prior to playing professionally, Kodelja played in the Pacific Coast Soccer League, playing at least the 1969–70 season with Columbus F.C. In 1974, he signed with the Vancouver Whitecaps in the team's inaugural season in the league. In 1976, he moved to the San Antonio Thunder. At the end of the season, the team moved to Hawaii where it became Team Hawaii in 1977. In 1978, he was back on the mainland with the San Jose Earthquakes; 1981 with the Calgary Boomers; 1982 and 1983 with the Toronto Blizzard; and 1984 with the Chicago Sting. Juan Carlos Molina (born 22 February 1955) is a retired professional footballer from Argentina that played in the Pimera División, Primera B, the North American Soccer League and the Major Indoor Soccer League. Senior career After two years as a youth amateur with the club, Juan Carlos Molina began his professional career in 1973, with Club Atletico Los Andes in the old Primera B. Franz Gerber
Franz Gerber (born 27 November 1953) is a German former professional footballer. Playing career Gerber was born in Munich. He spent most of his teenage years playing in the youth ranks at Bayern Munich, until finally making the senior squad in 1971–72, aged just 17. He made his debut on 15 April 1972 as a substitute in a 3–1 victory over Hannover 96 during the club's championship winning campaign. Despite this breakthrough, this would be Gerber's sole appearance for the legendary team as he moved onto FC St. Pauli of the (then) second flight Regionalliga North during the summer.
