The Caledonian Republicans (french: Les Républicains calédoniens; abbreviated LRC) is a liberal-conservative political party in New Caledonia. The party's founding congress was held on 7 December 2017 at Nouvata Hotel in the capital Nouméa, but its origins can be traced to a political group in Congress that split from The Rally on 18 July 2017. Sonia Backès
Sonia Backès (née Dos Santos; born 21 May 1976) is a French politician in New Caledonia. She is the current leader of the Caledonian Republicans party and the President of the Provincial Assembly of South Province since May 17, 2019. In 2022, she was appointed Secretary of State for Citizenship in the Borne government. Background Born Sonia Dos Santos, she is the daughter of language teachers. Liberal conservatism is a political ideology combining conservative policies with liberal stances, especially on economic issues but also on social and ethical matters, representing a brand of political conservatism strongly influenced by liberalism. 2017 French Legislative Election
Legislative elections in France were held on 11 and 18 June 2017 (with different dates for voters overseas) to elect the 577 members of the 15th National Assembly of the Fifth Republic. Nouméa
Nouméa () is the capital and largest city of the French special collectivity of New Caledonia and is also the largest francophone city in Oceania. Renaissance (RE), previously known as La République En Marche !
