Calderone Prize
The Frank A. Calderone Prize in Public Health is the most prestigious award in the field of public health. It is given every two years by the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health to an individual who has made a "transformational contribution" in the field. The first Calderone Prize was awarded in 1992. Dieges & Clust were jewellers established in New York in 1898 by Col. Charles Joseph Dieges (b. Oct. 26, 1865-d. Sept. 14, 1953) and Prosper Clust (b. Sept. 26, 1873-d. Mar. 28, 1933). William Foege
William Herbert Foege (; ''-ghee''; born March 12, 1936) is an American physician and epidemiologist who is credited with "devising the global strategy that led to the eradication of smallpox in the late 1970s". From May 1977 to 1983, Foege served as the Director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Foege also "played a central role" in efforts that greatly increased immunization rates in developing countries in the 1980s. Jonathan Max Mann (July 30, 1947 – September 2, 1998) was an American physician who was an administrator for the World Health Organization, and spearheaded early AIDS research in the 1980s. Education Mann was president of the National Honor Society in the Newton South High School class of 1965. He earned his B.A. ''magna cum laude'' from Harvard College, his M.D. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1974, and the degree of M.P.H. from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1980.
