Calder Cannons
The Calder Cannons is an Australian rules football club from Melbourne, Australia. The club competes in the NAB League, the Victorian Statewide Under-18s competition, and fields squads in the Under-15s, Under-16s and Under-18s. The club was formed in 1995 after the need for two more metropolitan clubs. The geographic catchment area for the club is the north western suburbs of Melbourne extending to cover the Macedon Ranges area. Honours *Premierships (6): 2001, 2003, 2004, 2007, 2009, 2010 *Runners-up (3): 2002, 2006, 2014 *Wooden Spoons: Nil Performances The club has been a strong competitor since its inception, and in 2006 lost in the final to eventual premiers the Oakleigh Chargers at the MCG. Robert Hyde (footballer)
Robert Hyde (born 1 November 1954) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Collingwood and Essendon football teams in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. Playing career Hyde played 63 senior VFL football games between 1973 and 1979. A defender, Hyde won the Copeland Trophy in 1976 for Collingwood's best and fairest player. Hyde played for Collingwood in both the drawn 1977 VFL Grand Final and the Grand Final replay the following week. He finished his career with Essendon. Coaching career Hyde coached Greensborough to Diamond Valley Football League premierships in 1983 and 1984, and then spent time coaching North Old Boys in the Victorian Amateur Football Association. Mark Johnson (footballer)
Mark 'MJ' Johnson (born 23 May 1978) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Essendon Football Club and Fremantle Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). Early life Johnson is commonly known as "Mr. Sunbury", referring to the body building award he won as a teenager in his home town of Sunbury, Victoria. Mark commenced his junior football with Diggers Rest Football Club, before moving to Sunbury Lions. He was drafted to Essendon as a rookie after playing underage with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup competition. Jason Johnson (Australian Footballer)
Jason Johnson (born 25 January 1978) is a retired Australian rules footballer who spent his entire professional career with Essendon of the Australian Football League (AFL). Known as a tireless running midfielder, Johnson's career honours include All-Australian selection in 2001, the same year he won the W.S. Crichton Medal for Essendon's best and fairest player. In the same year, he was considered to be the best on ground in the famous Round 16 game between Essendon and North Melbourne in which Essendon came back from 69 points, a record comeback in VFL/AFL which remains to this day. Mark Kinnear
Mark Kinnear (born 21 August 1979) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Sydney Swans in the Australian Football League (AFL). Kinnear was selected by Sydney with the fourth pick of the 1996 National Draft, from the Calder Cannons. He played his junior football at Kilmore. A centre half back, Kinnear was just 17 when he made his league debut. He made three appearances for the Swans in the 1997 AFL season and another three in 1998. Ashley Fernee
Ashley Fernee (born 24 June 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played in the Australian Football League (AFL). He was selected for the Adelaide Football Club in the 1995 draft, having previously played with the Calder Cannons. Fernee only played two games for the Adelaide Football Club in 1996, debuting against Fitzroy Football Club in round 17. In spite of those two games, he was not selected to play in 1997, and in 1998 things were not looking promising, with Michelangelo Rucci stating that the "wait will go on unless a long injury list strikes again". Fernee did not play in 1998, and he was delisted by the Adelaide Football Club in October of that year. Darren Milburn
Darren Milburn (born 15 April 1977) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A defender, tall and weighing , Milburn was renowned for his competitiveness, decision-making and for both his physical and mental strength. Milburn was selected in the 2007 All-Australian Team, and was part of Geelong's AFL premiership-winning team in the same year, a feat which has seen him become the first premiership player to play 250 matches for Geelong. David Round
David Round (born 25 June 1978) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with the Western Bulldogs in the Australian Football League (AFL). Round, the son of former Brownlow Medal winner Barry, was drafted by the Western Bulldogs under the father–son rule. He was recruited from the Calder Cannons and before that played at Strathmore. A ruckman, he was aged 18 when he made his AFL debut in round three of the 1997 AFL season, against Richmond at the MCG. He could only manage one kick but kept his spot in the side for the following week's fixture against Melbourne. Round again struggled to have an impact, with just two hit-outs and a solitary kick. The Australian Football League (AFL) is the only fully professional sports, professional competition of Australian rules football.
