Sammy Cahn
Samuel Cohen (June 18, 1913 – January 15, 1993), known professionally as Sammy Cahn, was an American lyricist, songwriter, and musician. He is best known for his romantic lyrics to films and Broadway songs, as well as stand-alone songs premiered by recording companies in the Greater Los Angeles Area. He and his collaborators had a series of hit recordings with Frank Sinatra during the singer's tenure at Capitol Records, but also enjoyed hits with Dean Martin, Doris Day and many others. He played the piano and violin, and won an Oscar four times for his songs, including the popular hit " Three Coins in the Fountain". Among his most enduring songs is "Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!", cowritten with Jule Styne in 1945. Miles Cahn (April 18, 1921 – February 10, 2017) was an American businessman and designer who co-founded the Coach Leatherware Company, now known as Coach, Inc., with his wife, Lillian Cahn, in 1961. The Cahns founded the luxury fashion company, now known for its handbags, when they purchased a ting mall wallet manufacturer, then located in West 34th Street in Manhattan, and renamed it Coach. Under the guidance of Lillian and Miles Cahn, Coach was among the first to introduce lines of purses and handbags that were both fashionable and practical. Audrey Cahn
Audrey Josephine Cahn (17 October 1905 – 1 April 2008) was an Australian microbiologist and nutritionist. The daughter of Professor William Alexander Osborne and Ethel Elizabeth Goodson, a medical practitioner and industrial hygienist, she was born Audrey Josephine Osborne in Melbourne and grew up on the campus of the University of Melbourne. She earned a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at the university in 1929 and, later, received a diploma in dietetics. She first worked as a microbiologist and food analyst for Kraft. In 1930, she married Leslie Cahn, an architect. Cahn died in Canberra at the age of 102. Ester Samuel-Cahn
Ester Samuel-Cahn (May 16, 1933 – November 20, 2015) was an Israeli statistician and educator. She was a professor emeritus at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Biography Samuel-Cahn was born in Oslo, Norway. During the Nazi occupation of Norway, in 1942, her father, a rabbi, was warned that he would be arrested by the Germans. He refused to leave in order to try to support his community. In September, her father was ordered to report to the Gestapo office, where he was questioned and later sent to Auschwitz. Later that year, the Nazis were going to arrest the other Jews in Oslo, however Samuel-Cahn's family were moved by members of the underground, Ingebjørg Sletten-Fosstvedt and Sigrid Helliesen Lund, to safety and later to a refugee camp in neutral Sweden. In order to cross the border, Samuel-Cahn and the rest of her family had to hide in trucks used to transport potatoes. Susan Kathleen Cahn is a historian known for her work on women's studies and LGBTQ topics. She is a professor at the University of Buffalo. Education and career Cahn has a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Cruz (1981) and an M.A. from the University of Minnesota (1985). Edward Norman Cahn (born June 29, 1933) is a former United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. Education and career Cahn was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania. He attended Lehigh University, where he played basketball and set a record by becoming the first Lehigh student to score 1,000 points; he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1955.
