Cagle Cartoons
In 2001, cartoonist Daryl Cagle started Cagle Cartoons, Inc., which distributes the cartoons of sixty editorial cartoonists and fourteen columnists to more than 850 subscribing newspapers in the United States and around the world, including over half of America's daily, paid-circulation newspapers. Cagle Cartoons syndicates the political cartoons of four Pulitzer Prize winners — Adam Zyglis, Mike Keefe, Kevin Siers, and Steve Sack. Cagle Cartoons also syndicates the political cartoons of four winners of the “Cow” or the “Grand Prix de l'Humour Vache” from the Salon International de la Caricature, du Dessin de Presse et d’humour” in Saint-Just-le-Martel, France — Patrick Chappatte (2021), Rayma Suprani (2014), Angel Boligan (2017) and Daryl Cagle (2013). Print syndication distributes news articles, columns, political cartoons, comic strips and other features to newspapers, magazines and websites. The syndicates offer reprint rights and grant permissions to other parties for republishing content of which they own and/or represent copyrights. Other terms for the service include a newspaper syndicate, a press syndicate, and a feature syndicate. The syndicate is an agency that offers features from notable journalists and authorities as well as reliable and established cartoonists. It fills a need among smaller weekly and daily newspapers for material that helps them compete with large urban papers, at a much lesser cost than if the client were to purchase the material themselves. The ''Fort Worth Star-Telegram'' is an American daily newspaper serving Fort Worth and Tarrant County, the western half of the North Texas area known as the Metroplex. It is owned by The McClatchy Company. History In May 1905, Amon G. Carter accepted a job as an advertising space salesman in Fort Worth. A few months later, he agreed to help finance and run a new newspaper in town. The ''Fort Worth Star'' printed its first newspaper on February 1, 1906, with Carter as the advertising manager. Randall Enos (born January 30, 1936) is an American illustrator and cartoonist. Enos was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Throughout his career, which began in the 1960s, Enos has worked mostly in linocuts. Bob Englehart (born 1945) is a retired American editorial cartoonist for the '' Hartford Courant''. He was a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 1979. Biography Born on November 7, 1945, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Englehart dropped out of the American Academy of Art in 1967 to join the staff of '' Chicago Today'', where he published his first editorial cartoons. In 1972, he returned to Fort Wayne to start a small commercial art studio and work as a freelance artist for ''The Journal-Gazette''. Bill Day is an American cartoonist best known for his syndicated editorial cartoons. Day has won numerous industry awards, and has also been involved in controversy over his opposition to the National Rifle Association and advocacy of gun control, and over his reuse of his own previously drawn material. Career Day attended the University of Florida, where he studied political science. It was at this time that he first began drawing political cartoons. Day has won the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award twice (in 1985, and in 2010), the National Cartoonists Society's award for best editorial cartoon in 1996, and several other industry awards.
