Caffaro (river)
The Caffaro is a 25 km river of northern Italy whose course lies within the Province of Brescia, sometimes forming the border with Trentino. It belongs to the basin of Lago d'Idro. Its source is on Cornone di Blumone, a peak in the Rhaetian Alps, near the Passo del Termine within the commune of Breno, in the Parco regionale dell'Adamello regional park. The river then runs through the Val di Caffaro entering the territory of Bagolino and flows into the Chiese just before the latter enters lago d'Idro at Ponte Caffaro. The Caffaro's principal affluents are the Riccomassimo, the Rio Frèi, the Dazare, the Bruffione, the Lajone, the Sanguinera, the , the Dasdanè, the Racigande, the Berga and the Leprazzo. Breno ( Camunian: ; obsolete german: Brenn) is an Italian comune of 4,986 inhabitants in Val Camonica, province of Brescia, in Lombardy. Geography It is bounded by other communes of Niardo, Bagolino, Bienno, Braone, Ceto, Cividate Camuno, Condino (TN), Daone (TN), Losine, Malegno, Niardo, Prestine. The town of Breno stands in a north-south gorge, between the castle hill and the Corno Cerreto, on the left bank of the river Oglio. Lago D'Idro
Lake Idro ( it, Lago d'Idro, also ''Eridio'' from la, Eridius lacus, lmo, Lac d'Ider, german: Idrosee) is an Italian prealpine lake of glacial origin situated largely within the Province of Brescia (Lombardy) and in part in Trentino. At 368 m above sea level it is the highest of the Lombard prealpine lakes. The lake is fed principally by the waters of the river Chiese; that river is also its only emissary. It has a surface area of 11.4 km² and a maximum depth of 122 m. The lake is surrounded by wooded mountains. The Chiese, also known in the Province of Brescia as the Clisi, is a Italian river that is the principal immisary and sole emissary of the sub-alpine lake Lago d’Idro, and is a left tributary of the Oglio. The river rises from the Adamello in Trentino and runs through the Val di Fumo and the Val di Daone, forming the reservoirs of Lago di Malga Bissina and Lago di Malga Boazzo. At Pieve di Bono it enters the lower valleys of Giudicarie, receiving the waters of the '' torrente'' Adanà. Further south it flows through the Lago d'Idro near Baitoni before running down into Lombardy and the Province of Brescia. After leaving the lake the river runs through the Val Sabbia as far as Roè Volciano. Bagolino
Bagolino (Brescian: ) is a ''comune'' in the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, Italy, in the valley of the river Caffaro, on the right side of Valle Sabbia. Bagolino is known for the cheese named Bagòss and the carnival. Similar to grana padano, Bagòss is a salty cheese with traces of natural mold at times. Adamello Regional Park
The Adamello Regional Park ( it, Parco regionale dell'Adamello) is a nature reserve in Lombardy, Italy. Established in 1983, it encompasses the Lombard portion of the Adamello-Presanella Alps; together with the adjacent Stelvio National Park, Swiss National Park and Adamello Brenta Natural Park, it forms the largest protected area in the Alps, nearly 400,000 hectares. The park has an area of over 50,000 hectares, ranging in elevation from 390 to 3,539 meters above sea level. The Adamello Glacier, the largest glacier in Italy (16 square kilometres), is located within the park. The park's fauna includes the brown bear, the wolf, the red deer, the roe deer, the alpine ibex, the chamois, the marmot, the stoat, the golden eagle, the rock ptarmigan and the western capercaillie. Rhaetian Alps
The Rhaetian Alps ( it, Alpi Retiche; german: Rätische Alpen) are a mountain range of the Eastern Alps. The SOIUSA classification system divides them into the Western and Eastern Rhaetian Alps, while the Alpine Club classification of the Eastern Alps places most of the Rhaetian subranges within the Western Limestone Alps.
