Caetés () is a Brazilian Municipalities of Brazil, municipality located within the Pernambuco, state of Pernambuco, in northeastern Brazil. The city belongs to the mesoregion of Agreste Pernambucano and microregion of Garanhuns. The name originates from the indigenous people, indigenous Caeté people, Caetés people who lived in Pernambuco in the 16th century. Caetés is notable for being the birthplace of Brazilian president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on 27 October 1945 at the time it was considered part of Garanhuns. Caeté People
The Caeté ( Caetés) were an Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Indigenous people of Brazil, linguistically belonging to the Tupi people. Their descendants number around 135. Origin The Tupi people were a large group of indigenous people who populated Brazil's coast, and they were among the first natives that the Portuguese encountered when they arrived in South America.
