Caergybi is an electoral ward in Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. It includes the northern half of the community including the town centre and port. Caergybi elects three county councillors to the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Parc A'r Mynydd
Parc a'r Mynydd (meaning ''Park and the Mountain'') is an area and community electoral ward in the town of Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. The area includes Breakwater Country Park and the village of Mountain (at the foot of Holyhead Mountain). In 2011 the ward had a total population of 1,154. Electoral ward Parc a'r Mynydd remains an electoral ward for Holyhead Town Council, electing two town councillors. Until 2012 the Parc a'r Mynydd electoral ward sent a county councillor to the Isle of Anglesey County Council. Following the Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes Parc a'r Mynydd became part of a larger Caergybi ward, which includes three other wards of the Holyhead community. 2017 Isle Of Anglesey County Council Election
The 2017 Isle of Anglesey County Council election, to the Isle of Anglesey County Council was held on 4 May 2017 as part of the 2017 United Kingdom local elections. All 30 council seats were up for election. The previous full election took place in 2013 and the following one in 2022. Overall results Following the election Plaid Cymru gained two additional seats overall to become the largest party with 14 councillors. The Independents, ruling the council prior to the election, were reduced to 13 councillors. Previous Independent Group leader, Ieuan Williams, stood down from this position prior to the election. Isle Of Anglesey Electoral Boundary Changes 2012
The Isle of Anglesey electoral boundary changes in 2012 reduced the numbers of electoral wards to the Isle of Anglesey County Council from 40 to 11. This led to the postponement of local government elections in the county by 12 months. The changes were confirmed by the Isle of Anglesey (Electoral Arrangements) Order 2012 in October 2012. The changes were based on proposals by the Local Government Boundary Commission for Wales, after a review was ordered by the Welsh Government's Minister for Social Justice and Local Government, Carl Sargeant, in March 2012. The Commission proposed replacing the 40 electoral wards, which had elected one county councillor each, with eleven multi-member wards electing 30 county councillors in total. Holyhead Town Council
Holyhead Town Council is an elected community council serving the town of Holyhead in Anglesey, Wales. Background Holyhead Town Council was created in 1974 with the demise of Holyhead Urban District Council and the transfer of many of its powers to Anglesey Borough Council (later Isle of Anglesey County Council). The town council's responsibilities include maintaining the town's six playing fields, Maeshyfryd Cemetery, allotments, bus shelters, noticeboards, as well as the left luggage facilities at the port. The council manages the Town Hall and has leased the old Empire Cinema building to create a Soft Play Centre and a Laser Quest for children. In 2017 the Town Council took over Holyhead's Pavilion and park from Anglesey County Council. Morawelon
Morawelon ( cy, Môrawelon) is an area and community electoral ward in the town of Holyhead, Anglesey, Wales. In 2011 the ward had a population of 1,504. The Eaton Electrical factory was based in Morawelon from 1961. When its closure was announced, to relocate to Eastern Europe with the loss of 265 jobs, nobody other than the workforce led the fight (unsuccessfully) to keep the factory open. The Isle of Anglesey County Council ( cy, Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn) is the local authority for the county of Anglesey, one of the principal areas of Wales. Since 2022 the council has 35 councillors who represent 11 multi-member electoral wards. History The first county council for Anglesey was created in 1889 under the Local Government Act 1888, which established elected county councils to take over the administrative functions of the quarter sessions. The original county council did not include "Isle of" in its name, simply being called "Anglesey County Council".
