Cade Otton
Cade Otton (born April 15, 1999) is an American football tight end for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League (NFL). He previously played college football at Washington before being selected by the Buccaneers in the fourth round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Early years Otton attended Tumwater High School in Tumwater, Washington. As a senior he was '' The Olympian''’s All-Area Football Player of the Year after recording 39 receptions for 733 yards with 13 touchdowns on offense and 107 tackles and three sacks on defense. He committed to the University of Washington to play college football. College career After redshirting his first year at Washington in 2017, Otton played in all 14 games with 10 starts in 2018. Tight End
The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns. Because of the hybrid nature of the position, the tight end's role in any given offense depends on the tactical preferences and philosophy of the head coach as well as overall team dynamic. Redshirt, in United States college athletics, is a delay or suspension of an athlete's participation in order to lengthen their period of eligibility. Typically, a student's athletic eligibility in a given sport is four seasons, aligning with the four years of academic classes typically required to earn a bachelor's degree at an American college or university. However, in a redshirt year, student athletes may attend classes at the college or university, practice with an athletic team, and "suit up" (wear a team uniform) for play – but they may compete in only a limited number of games (see " Use of status" section). Brad Otton (born January 25, 1972) is a former American football quarterback who was the USC Trojans starter in 1995 and 1996. College career Otton originally attended Weber State University in 1993. He started seven games, completing 183 of 314 passes for 2,307 yards and 15 touchdowns. Before the 1994 season, he transferred to the University of Southern California. During his first year at USC, he spent most of the season as a backup to Rob Johnson, but played in seven games with two starts, due to injuries to Johnson. He finished the season 55 of 92 for 787 yards with six touchdowns and no interceptions. Prior to the 1995 season Otton and Kyle Wachholtz were competing for the starting job.
