Cacumen
Bonfire (originally Cacumen) is a German heavy metal band, founded by Hans Ziller in Ingolstadt in 1972. In 1986, based on the advice of the record company and the management, the band changed its name to Bonfire. Original founder Ziller is still in the band and is the only one who has the rights to the Bonfire name. Biography Cacumen (1972–1986) In 1972, in the Bavarian town of Ingolstadt the teenaged guitarist Hans Ziller, put together a rock band called Cacumen with his guitarist brother Karl and gathered a bunch of friends to complete the band. The name of the group was taken from a school test Hans had done and it translates from Latin as "the top of a mountain". For the next six years, the band played in small local venues, but formed a fan base in their hometown. ''Cacumen'' is the first full-length album by the heavy metal band Cacumen. It was released in 1981 on the independent label Rockport Records. The album came out after their single, Riding Away, was released two years prior and features a new version of that song. Cacumen would rename themselves Bonfire in 1986. In 2002/2003, Claus Lessmann and Hans Ziller purchased the rights to the Cacumen material and re-release the collection under the Bonfire name individually as well as a box set called The Early Days. "Riding Away" is the first single released by the German hard rock band Cacumen which would evolve into Bonfire. This is also the band's first release. In 2002/2003, Claus Lessmann and Hans Ziller purchased the rights to the Cacumen material and re-released the collection under the Bonfire name individually as well as a box set called ''The Early Days''. Hans Ziller
Hans Ziller (born 18 May 1959) is a German musician, known as the founder, lead guitarist, backing vocalist and primary composer of the 1980s melodic hard rock band Bonfire. He founded the band Cacumen (a predecessor of Bonfire) as a teenager in 1972. In 1989, in the middle of working on Bonfire's third album ''Point Blank—''which, like the earlier albums, was produced by Michael Wagener—Ziller left the band because of insurmountable differences with the management and the rest of the band and began a project of his own called EZ Livin'. In 1993, he continued with Bonfire. In 2014, Ziller resurrected EZ Livin' for a solo venture that was originally planned to be temporary. On 11 January 2015, he reformed Bonfire. Joerg Deisinger (born Jörg Deisinger) is a German musician and the former bassist and a founding member of the German 1980s heavy metal band Bonfire. Early life and Bonfire Deisinger was born in Nuremberg, Germany, on 23 April 1966. His pre-teen obsession with learning how to play guitar eventually became a full-fledged pursuit of becoming a rock star. Claus Lessmann (born 11 September 1960) is a German heavy metal musician and former lead singer of heavy metal band Bonfire. He was the only member and the only singer of Bonfire to have appeared on all of the band's albums. AllMusic wrote that the album is considered a "classic" of the " melodic hard rock" genre. Pretty Maids is a Danish hard rock/Heavy metal music, heavy metal band from Horsens. Formed in 1981 by Ken Hammer, and completed with Ronnie Atkins in 1982, their sound and music can be described as classic guitar-laden heavy rock with a strong emphasis on melody. Samson (band)
Samson were a British heavy metal band formed in 1977 by guitarist and vocalist Paul Samson. They are best known for their first three albums with future Iron Maiden singer Bruce Dickinson, then known as "Bruce Bruce", and drummer Thunderstick (real name Barry Graham Purkis), who wore a leather mask and performed on stage in a metal cage. Drummer Clive Burr was also a member of the band, both before and after his tenure with Iron Maiden. Drummer Mel Gaynor had a successful music career being a member of Simple Minds for over 20 years.
