Cacodaemon
A cacodemon (or cacodaemon) is an evil spirit or (in the modern sense of the word) a demon. The opposite of a cacodemon is an ''agathodaemon'' or ''eudaemon'', a good spirit or angel. The word ''cacodemon'' comes through Latin from the Ancient Greek κακοδαίμων ''kakodaimōn'', meaning an "evil spirit", whereas ''daimon'' would be a neutral spirit in Greek. It is believed to be capable of shapeshifting. A cacodemon is also said to be a malevolent person. In psychology, cacodemonia (or cacodemonomania) is a form of insanity in which the patient believes that they are possessed by an evil spirit. The first known occurrence of the word ''cacodemon'' dates to 1593. In William Shakespeare's ''Richard III'' Act 1 Scene 3, Queen Margaret calls Richard a "cacodemon" for his foul deeds and manipulations. In John Fletcher's ''The Knight of Malta'', Norandine calls Mountferrat, the play's villain, a "cacodemon" in the final scene. In '' The Arbatel de Magi Veterum'', written in ...

Eudaemon (mythology)
The eudaemon, eudaimon, or eudemon ( grc-gre, εὐδαίμων) in Greek mythology was a type of daemon or genius (deity), which in turn was a kind of spirit.Russell, Michael; W, J. T. (1865); Vol I, p 157. A eudaemon was regarded as a good spirit or angel, and the evil cacodaemon was its opposing spirit.Merriam-Webster (1995); p 392. Etymology The word ''eudaimon'' in Greek means having a good attendant spirit, and consequently being happy. It is composed of the words εὖ ''eu'', which means "well" or "good" and δαίμων ''daimon'', which means "divinity, spirit, divine power, fate, or god."Prior, William J. (1990); p 150.Guiley, Rosemary E. (2008); p 94. Sometimes ''eudaimon'' is taken to mean literally "good spirit". Also ''daimon'' is the Greek derivative for the term demon, in which case "demon" means "replete with knowledge".Wilhelm, Robert (1995); p 22. Moreover, ''Eudaimon'' is as well an ancient proper noun, in particular it was the Greek name of a priest of Z ...

Agathodaemon
An agathodaemon ( grc, ἀγαθοδαίμων, ) or agathos daemon (, , ) was a spirit (''daemon'') of ancient Greek religion. They were personal or supernatural companion spirits, comparable to the Roman '' genii'', who ensured good luck, fertility, health, protection and wisdom. During the classical period Though little noted in Greek mythology (Pausanias conjectured that the name was merely an epithet of Zeus), he was prominent in Greek folk religion; it was customary to drink or pour out a few drops of unmixed wine to honor him in every symposium or formal banquet. In Aristophanes' ''Peace'', when War has trapped Peace (Εἰρήνη '' Eirene'') in a deep pit, Hermes comes to give aid: "Now, oh Greeks! is the moment when, freed of quarrels and fighting, we should rescue sweet ''Eirene'' and draw her out of this pit... This is the moment to drain a cup in honor of the ''Agathos Daimon''." A temple dedicated to them was situated on the road from Megalopolis to Maenalus in ...

The Knight Of Malta
''The Knight of Malta'' is a Jacobean era stage play, a tragicomedy in the canon of John Fletcher and his collaborators. It was initially published in the first Beaumont and Fletcher folio of 1647. Date and source No firm information is available on the play's date of authorship or earliest stage production. The cast list for the original King's Men's production, added in the second Beaumont and Fletcher folio of 1679, cites Richard Burbage, Henry Condell, Nathan Field, Robert Benfield, John Underwood, John Lowin, Richard Sharpe, and Thomas Holcombe, indicating that the play was performed in the 1616–1619 period – after Field joined the troupe in 1616 but before Burbage's death in March 1619. The authors depended upon the ''Filocolo'' of Giovanni Boccaccio as their source, specifically the section of that work called "The Thirteen Questions of Love." Authorship Scholars, from F. G. Fleay to Cyrus Hoy and after, have attributed the authorship of the play to Fletcher ...

Legion (album)
''Legion'' is the second album by American death metal band Deicide. It was released by Roadrunner Records on June 9, 1992. Background ''Legion'' is one of Deicide's most musically ambitious releases, incorporating more technical riffing and song structures. The band considers this album to be its most difficult, and claims it is too chaotic. When the Hoffman brothers quit the band, Eric Hoffman stated that one of the main reasons was Glen Benton refusing to play longer sets and being unable to perform the technical bass guitar riffing required for ''Legions material. Though the album is a favourite of fans, "Dead But Dreaming" is the only song from it to remain in the band's live set (though as recently as 2010 the band has begun playing "Trifixion" and "Holy Deception" as well). Unlike Deicide's first album, no pitch shifters or harmonizers were used on Benton's vocals. However, delay, reverb, and multi-tracking were among the studio manipulations used to achieve the vocal ef ...
