Cabriales River
History In 1547 the river that flowed northwest into Lake Tacarigua (today, Lake Valencia) was first seen by the expeditionary Juan de Villegas and the other men he commanded when they took possession of these lands. Since ancient times, the cities of the far east and the old world, were founded in the vicinity of a river. This custom spread to the New World. In this way, Nueva Valencia del Rey was founded, near Lake Tacarigua, a paradisiacal reservoir of botany, animals, and life when discovered by the conquerors, bathed by a generous river, in most of the houses and in the customs and hearts of its inhabitants. In 1814, the river had great importance because during that year, the city was besieged twice by royalist forces. These forces took the river which was the only water supply site. Lake Valencia (Venezuela)
Lake Valencia ( es, Lago de Valencia), formerly Lake Tacarigua, is a lake within Carabobo State and Aragua State in northern Venezuela. Geography Lake Valencia is the third largest lake in Venezuela, after Lake Maracaibo and Lake Guri reservoir. The lake is located in one of the Aragua valleys, between the parallel sub- Serranía del Interior in the Cordillera de la Costa Central, of the Venezuelan Coastal Ranges system. The endorheic lake has natural discharge level at 427 m above sea level; the water level declined below this height about 250 years ago. Its surface level currently is 410 m above sea level, and is about 30 km long, has an area of 350 km². The maximum depth is 39 m, the mean depth 18 m. Simón Bolívar
Simón José Antonio de la Santísima Trinidad Bolívar y Palacios (24 July 1783 – 17 December 1830) was a Venezuelan military and political leader who led what are currently the countries of Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Panama and Bolivia to independence from the Spanish Empire. He is known colloquially as '' El Libertador'', or the ''Liberator of America''. Simón Bolívar was born in Caracas in the Captaincy General of Venezuela into a wealthy criollo family. Before he turned ten, he lost both parents and lived in several households. Bolívar was educated abroad and lived in Spain, as was common for men of upper-class families in his day. Braulio Salazar
Braulio Salazar (1917–2008) was a Venezuelan painter. Biography Salazar was born on 23 December 1917 in Valencia. His first exhibition took place in 1935. As he suffered from hemotitis, doctors banned him from using chemical products. This lead him to make up his own colours with earth, vegetables and other natural substances as his other compatriot, Armando Reverón, used to do. Salazar was arts teacher at the Pedro Gual high school, at the Simón Rodríguez schoon and at the School of Plastic Arts Arturo Michelena. He also was the head of the Art Workshop at the Department of Humanities in the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Carabobo. José Rafael Pocaterra (18 December 1889 – 18 April 1955) was a Venezuelan writer, journalist and politician. Career He was imprisoned in 1907 to 1908 for his work on the opposition newspaper ''Caín'', and again from 1919 to 1922 after participating in Luis Rafael Pimentel's attempt to overthrow the dictator Juan Vicente Gómez. Whilst in prison, where he was tortured, he wrote the history book ''Memorias de un venezolano de la decadencia'' (published in 1927) and the novel ''La casa de los Ábila'' (published 1946). Later he participated in Román Delgado Chalbaud's ill-fated 1929 ''Falke'' expedition aimed at over-throwing Juan Vicente Gómez. Henrique Salas Römer (born 17 April 1936 in Puerto Cabello, Carabobo, Venezuela) is a Venezuelan economist from Yale University, politically active in Venezuela since 1983. Political career He was elected to congress as a member of the COPEI party in 1983, and then re-elected. In 1989 he was elected governor of his home state Carabobo and re-elected in 1992.
