CYM RFC
CYM RFC is an Irish rugby team based in Terenure, Dublin who play in the Leinster Metro League. The club colours are green, purple and white. In addition to rugby, the club also runs among others tennis, bowls, table tennis, cricket and football sections. History The club was founded in 1924 by eight members of the Catholic Young Men's Society. Later that year saw the acquisition of St. Mary's, the club's headquarters, which is still in use. In the spring of 1925 the first CYM side took the field changed in stables, accompanied by a horse used for cutting grass and rolling the field. Notable officials * E.J. The Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) ( ga, Cumann Rugbaí na hÉireann) is the body managing rugby union in the island of Ireland (both Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland). The IRFU has its head office at 10/12 Lansdowne Road and home ground at Aviva Stadium, where adult men's Irish rugby union international matches are played. Leinster Rugby ( ga, Rugbaí Laighean) is one of the four professional provincial rugby union teams from the island of Ireland and the most successful Irish team domestically. They compete in the United Rugby Championship and the European Rugby Champions Cup. Leinster play their home games primarily at the RDS Arena, although larger games are played in the Aviva Stadium when the capacity of the RDS is insufficient. Before moving to the RDS in 2005, Leinster's traditional home ground was Donnybrook Stadium, in Dublin 4. Terenure (), originally called ''Roundtown'', is an affluent, middle class suburb of Dublin in Ireland. It is located in the city's D6W postcode area. Location and transport Terenure lies primarily in the administrative area of Dublin City Council but with parts falling in South Dublin. It is located south of Harold's Cross and north of Rathfarnham, and also borders the suburbs of Templeogue, Rathgar, Kimmage and Perrystown. Bowls
Bowls, also known as lawn bowls or lawn bowling, is a sport in which the objective is to roll biased balls so that they stop close to a smaller ball called a "jack" or "kitty". It is played on a bowling green, which may be flat (for "flat-green bowls") or convex or uneven (for "crown green bowls"). Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Haddington RFC
Haddington Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team based in Haddington, East Lothian. History Founded in 1911, the team plays its home games at Neilson Park. Haddington player Jock Wemyss founded the Co-optimists; following a Barbarians inspired match in Haddington in 1924. They compete in BT National League Division 3, the 3rd tier of Scottish club rugby. Player development The minis section was set up almost 50 years ago by Bill Hamilton. The minis and the School of Rugby with Knox Academy are key to the ongoing success serving as nursery for players. Haddington currently have over 100 kids in each; and the club are delighted that they recently managed to play a couple of girls matches as they seek to develop a woman's team. There is a tradition of families serving the Club, with many sets of brothers, fathers sons and grandsons turning out. Leinster League Division Three is the third division of the Leinster League and started in the 1994/95 season. The number of teams was reduced from 14 to 13 in 2007/2008, and again from 13 to 9 in 2008/2009. History Ashbourne, Barnhall, Birr, Coolmine, CYM, Delvin, New Ross, Old Kilcullen, Railway Union, Tullow and Wicklow entered the division through the qualifying matches in the 1993/1994 season.
