Club Waterpolo Dos Hermanas, also known as Dos Hermanas Emasesa for sponsorship reasons, is a Spanish water polo club from Dos Hermanas, province of Seville established in 1993. It is best known for its women's team, which has played in the División de Honor since 2009. División De Honor Femenina De Waterpolo
The División de Honor Femenina de Waterpolo is the premier category in the Spanish women's water polo league. Founded in 1988 as Primera División (it took the current name in 2000). It is actually contested by ten teams. Competition Format The División de Honor season takes place between October and May, with every team playing each other home and away for a total of 22 matches. Points are awarded according to the following: * 3 points for a win * 1 points for a draw Upon completion of regular season, top four teams play championship playoffs. Promotion and relegation The bottom team in the standings at the end of the season is relegated to Primera División, while the top team from Primera División is promoted. Dos Hermanas () is a Spanish city south of Seville in Andalusia, with a population of 131,317 as of 2015. History The city's name, which means "two sisters", dates from its founding in 1248 by King Ferdinand III of Castile and honours Elvira and Estefanía Nazareno, the two sisters of Gonzalo Nazareno, one of the king's principal military commanders. For this reason natives of Dos Hermanas are called ''nazarenos/as''. Water polo is a competitive team sport played in water between two teams of seven players each. The game consists of four quarters in which the teams attempt to score goals by throwing the ball into the opposing team's goal. The team with the most goals at the end of the game wins the match. Each team is made up of six field players and one goalkeeper. Excluding the goalkeeper, players participate in both offensive and defensive roles. It is typically played in an all-deep pool where players cannot touch the bottom. A game consists mainly of the players swimming to move about the pool, treading water (mainly using the eggbeater kick), passing the ball, and shooting at the goal. Women's LEN Trophy
The Women's LEN Trophy is LEN's second-tier competition for women's water polo clubs. It was first held in 2000 as the LEN Women's Cup Winners' Cup. It was contested for many seasons by around 15 teams, which could qualify for it either directly due to high ranking in their domestic league or by being eliminated at certain stages of the Champions' Cup. After the last reformations in the European competitions system by LEN, only four teams contesting for the trophy, coming after elimination at that season's LEN Euro League quarterfinals stage.
