CVLT Nation is an international online magazine established by Sean Reveron and Meghan MacRae in 2011 in Los Angeles, California. Founded primarily as an independent clothing brand inspired by crust punk and extreme metal, its articles and music projects have gained considerable recognition. CVLT Nation is now based in Vancouver, Canada. The publication focuses on music, art and fashion, especially relating to underground musicians and visual artists of extreme metal, crust punk and punk rock's heavier subgenres. It also features articles on real-life horror stories, such as cults and murders. CVLT Nation's clothing art is either made by them or commissioned from metal and punk tattoo artists, musicians and illustrators around the world, wherein black metal artists play a substantial part. The Body (band)
The Body is an American experimental metal duo that was formed in 1999 in Providence, Rhode Island by guitarist/vocalist Chip King and drummer/programmer Lee Buford. As of 2022, they have released seven solo full length albums as well as fifteen collaborative LPs, nine EP's, four splits, two compilations, two singles, and one collaborative live album. History Drummer Lee Buford started the band with hometown friend Chip King after one year of school at the Museum School in Boston and moving to Manhattan in a four-month stint with Blue Man Group. ''Sleep's Holy Mountain'' (also known as ''Holy Mountain'') is the second studio album by the American heavy metal band Sleep. It was released in November 1992 in Europe and March 1993 in the US through Earache Records. Release and reception The recordings that would become ''Sleep's Holy Mountain'' were originally sent to independent label Earache as a demo. The label immediately signed the band and released the recordings exactly as they were received. It was the last album to be released by the band as a fully functioning group for a while, as their subsequent albums up to 2018's ''The Sciences'' were released after the group had broken up. Sleep is an American heavy metal band from San Jose, California. Guitarist Matt Pike and bassist and vocalist Al Cisneros have been the only constant members throughout its history, with several changes of drummers throughout their history. Critic Eduardo Rivadavia describes them as "perhaps the ultimate stoner rock band" and notes they exerted a strong influence on metal in the 1990s. ''My War'' is the second studio album by American band Black Flag. It was the first of three full-length albums released by the band in 1984. It polarized fans due to the LP's B-side, on which the band slowed down to a heavy, Black Sabbath-esque trudge, despite the reputation the band had earned as leaders in fast hardcore punk on its first album, '' Damaged'' (1981). After a period of legal troubles which prohibited the band from using its own name on recordings, Black Flag returned to the studio with a new approach to its music that incorporated a greater variety of styles, resulting in a sound orthodox punks found difficult to accept. Black Flag (band)
Black Flag is an American punk rock band formed in 1976 in Hermosa Beach, California. Initially called Panic, the band was established by Greg Ginn, the guitarist, primary songwriter, and sole continuous member through multiple personnel changes in the band. They are widely considered to be one of the first hardcore punk bands, as well as one of the pioneers of After breaking up in 1986, Black Flag reunited in 2003 and again in 2013. The second reunion lasted well over a year, during which they released their first studio album in nearly three decades, '' What The...'' (2013). ''Pornography'' is the fourth studio album by English Gothic rock band The Cure, released on 3 May 1982 by Fiction Records. Preceded by the non-album single " Charlotte Sometimes", it was the band's first album with new producer Phil Thornalley, and was recorded at RAK Studios from January to April 1982. The sessions saw the band on the brink of collapse, with heavy drug use, band in-fighting, and frontman Robert Smith's depression fueling the album's musical and lyrical content. ''Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables'' is the debut studio album by the American punk rock band Dead Kennedys. It was first released on September 2, 1980, through Cherry Red Records in the United Kingdom, and I.R.S. Records in the United States. It was later issued by Jello Biafra's own Alternative Tentacles label in the United States. It is the only ''Dead Kennedys'' studio album to feature drummer Bruce Slesinger and (on one track) guitarist Carlos Cadona. Dead Kennedys are an American punk rock band that formed in San Francisco, California, in 1978. The band was one of the defining punk rock, punk bands during its initial eight-year run. Dead Kennedys' lyrics were usually political in nature, satirizing political figures and authority in general, as well as popular culture and even the punk movement itself. During their initial incarnation between 1978 and 1986, they attracted considerable controversy for their provocative lyrics and artwork.
