CS Maristes
CS Maristes, formerly known as Champville Club SC ( ar, نادي الشانفيل الرياضي), is a Lebanese basketball team from Dik El Mehdi, Lebanon. The team competes in the Lebanese Basketball League. Since its establishment in 1967, the team has been affiliated with the Collège Mariste Champville ("Champville"), a private Marist Roman Catholic educational institution. After a disagreement with Champville's management in 2022, the club was renamed CS Maristes. CS Maristes achieved the pinnacle of their success by securing the national championship in 2012. They have also clinched the runner-up position in the league on five occasions. Their trophy cabinet also displays two Lebanese Cups, one Lebanese SuperCup, and the 2006 WABA Super League championship. Lebanese Basketball League
The Lebanese Basketball League is the top-tier professional men's basketball league in Lebanon. It is organized annually as a national championship with playoffs and a national cup by the Lebanese Basketball Federation (FLB). Currently, the league consists of 12 teams, of which six are located in Beirut. The most successful club in the history of the league is Al Riyadi who have won a record 16 championships. History The initial Lebanese basketball league was formed in as early as the 1950s; however, it was stopped during the Lebanese Civil War. In 1992, the league was reformed into a fully professional format. In 1997, Sporting Club (Al Riyadi) finished as Lebanese champions, allowing them to participate in the 1998 FIBA Asia Champions Cup . There, they finished 3rd place. Fadi El Khatib
Fadi El Khatib ( ar, فادي الخطيب; born January 1, 1979), nicknamed "the Lebanese Tiger", is a Lebanese professional basketball player who plays in the Lebanese Basketball League for Sagesse. El Khatib played for several teams in the Lebanese Basketball League, and also played abroad in Syria, Ukraine and China. He was also a member of the Lebanon national team that finished runners-up in the FIBA Asia Championship three times, in 2001, 2005 and 2007. El Khatib also participated in the FIBA World Championship in 2002, 2006 and 2010. Joe Vogel (basketball)
Joseph Vogel (; born September 15, 1973) is an American-Lebanese basketball player. Vogel attended Colorado State University. Upon graduation, he was drafted by the Seattle SuperSonics in 1996. He played as a professional in Taiwan, Turkey, Japan, Saudi Arabia and on a number of Lebanese basketball teams, including Sagesse Beirut, Champville SC and Sporting Al Riyadi Beirut. Elie Mechantaf ( ar, إيلي مشنتف; born in Beirut, Lebanon on October 5, 1970) is a retired Lebanese professional basketball player.
