CSU Channel Islands University Park
CSU Channel Islands University Park is adjacent to and owned by California State University, Channel Islands. It is usually closed to vehicle traffic, but the public is welcome to explore by foot. There is a dirt parking area just outside the gate. The area includes wetlands, hills, trails, the Scary dairy, a model boat pond, and an actively used model airplane field and runway. California State University, Channel Islands
California State University Channel Islands (CSUCI, CSU Channel Islands) is a public university in Camarillo, California. It opened in 2002 as the 23rd campus in the California State University system. CSUCI is located on the Central Coast of California, at the intersection of the Oxnard Plain and northernmost edge of the Santa Monica Mountains range. The Channel Islands are nearby where the university operates a scientific research station on Santa Rosa Island. The university is a Hispanic-serving institution. Channel Islands offers 54 types of Bachelor's degrees, 6 different graduate (Master's) degrees, 19 teaching credentials, and an Ed.D degree. In the fall of 2018, the university enrolled the largest number of students in its history with a total of 7,095 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Scary Dairy
Camarillo State Mental Hospital, also known as Camarillo State Hospital, was a public psychiatric hospital for patients with both developmental disabilities and mental illness in Camarillo, California. The hospital was in operation from 1936 to 1997. The former hospital campus has been redeveloped and opened in 2002 as the California State University Channel Islands. The university has retained the distinctive Mission Revival Style architecture, and the bell tower in the South quad has been adopted as the symbol of the university. Calleguas Creek
Calleguas Creek (; Chumash: ''Kayïwïsh'', meaning "the head") is the terminus of a river system in Ventura County, California. It drains the Calleguas Creek Watershed, an area 30 miles long and 14 miles wide (343 square miles), which includes Simi Valley, Moorpark, Camarillo and a large portion of Thousand Oaks. Tributaries include Arroyo Simi, Arroyo Santa Rosa, Revolon Slough and Arroyo Conejo. The Santa Monica Mountains is a coastal mountain range in Southern California, next to the Pacific Ocean. It is part of the Transverse Ranges.
