Clubul Sportiv de Fotbal CFR 1933 Timișoara, commonly known as CSF CFR 1933 Timișoara or as CFR Timișoara (), is a Romanian football club based in Timișoara, Timiș County, founded in 1933. The club is currently playing in the Liga VI (6th tier). The team's best moment was during the 1947–48 season, when it was ranked 2nd in the Divizia A and reached the Romanian Cup final. However UTA Arad managed to beat them in both legs. History It was founded in 1933, a team that marks only two divisional appearances until World War II: 1937–1938, 5th place, in the Western League, Divizia C and 1940 -1941, 6th place, in the 1st series of Divizia B. In the 1944, it participated in the Heroes Cup after winning a 6-3 match. In the 1947–1948 season it manages to reach the final of the Romanian Cup, which they lost in front of the ITA Arad team and finished in second place in Divizia A, following the same ITA Arad. Stadionul CFR (Timișoara)
CFR Stadium ( ro, Stadionul CFR) is a multi-purpose stadium in Timișoara, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football (soccer), football matches and is the home ground of CFR Timișoara. The stadium holds 7,000 people. It was also the home ground of Chinezul Timișoara and CA Timișoara, which was named Stadionul Banatul at that time. History Inaugurated in 1913, the Banatul Stadium occupied the land of the current stadium until World War II. In 1944, the stadium was destroyed by Strategic bombing during World War II, Allied bombings, which also destroyed the neighboring Timișoara North railway station, Domnița Elena railway station. A new stadium was rebuilt by CSF CFR Timișoara, CFR employees five years later. Cupa României
The Cupa României ( en, Romanian Cup) is a football cup competition for Romanian teams which has been held annually since 1933–34, except during World War II. It is the country's main cup competition, being open to all clubs affiliated with the Romanian Football Federation (FRF) and the county football associations regardless of the league they belong to. Currently, the winner of the competition is granted a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League qualifiers and plays the Supercupa României. Most finals have been held at the Stadionul Național (formerly known as "23 August"), and occasionally at other stadiums in Bucharest. Liga V
Liga V is the fifth level of the Romanian football league system. Current format Liga V has 42 divisions. The divisions are regionalised and are organised by every county association. Each team plays in their own county. The county associations decide how many teams play in the league and how many matches each side plays. In Romania the most frequently used system is one division with matches played home and away. A number of associations prefer 2 or even 3 parallel divisions. Liga IV Timiș is the county football division of Liga IV for clubs based in Timiș County, România. The competition is ranked as the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system and it is competed between 18 teams, the winner may or may not be promoted to Liga III, depending on the result of a promotion play-off that is disputed against a winner of the neighboring counties series.
