CNN Controversies
CNN (Cable News Network), an American basic cable and satellite television channel, has been the subject of multiple controversies. This article recounts controversies and allegations relating to both the domestic version of CNN, and its sister channels CNN International and CNN-News18. Allegations of bias CNN has often been the subject of allegations of party bias. ''The New York Times'' has described its development of a partisan lean during the tenure of Jeff Zucker. ''The New York Observer'' was a weekly newspaper printed from 1987 to 2016, when it ceased print publication and became the online-only newspaper ''Observer''. Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah
Grand Ayatollah Muhammad Husayn Fadlallah (also Sayyed Muhammad Hussein Fadl-Allāh; ar, محمد حسين فضل الله; 16 November 1935 – 4 July 2010) was a prominent twelver Shia cleric from a Lebanese family. Born in Najaf, Iraq, Fadlallah studied Islam in Najaf before moving to Lebanon in 1952. In the following decades, he gave many lectures, engaged in intense scholarship, wrote dozens of books, founded several Islamic religious schools, and established the ''Mabarrat Association''. Through the aforementioned association, he established a public library, a women's cultural center, and a medical clinic. Fadlallah was sometimes called the "spiritual mentor" of Hezbollah in the media, although this was disputed by other sources. Octavia Nasr ( ar, اوكتافيا نصر) (born 13 March 1966) is a Lebanese-American Rhetoric scholar anauthorwhosresearchfocuses on Yoga's identity and ethical code and how they apply to journalism and other fields. She is a certified yoga instructor who teaches in the U.S. and India. She was a war correspondent for Lebanon's LBCI in the 1980's. She served in various positions at CNN for twenty years until her departure in 2010 following a controversial Twitter posting related to cleric Mohammad Hussein Fadlallah. Career Nasr was born and raised in Lebanon in a Christian Maronite family to a Lebanese mother and Palestinian father who was born in Haifa and migrated to Lebanon with his family when he was 8 years old.
