The CMLL 90th Anniversary Show ( es, 90. Aniversario de CMLL) was the 90th annual (and 101st overall) CMLL Anniversary Show professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL). It was held on September 16, 2023, at Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico. Production Background On June 19, 2023, on ''CMLL Informa'', CMLL announced that their 90th anniversary show would take place at Arena México in Mexico City, Mexico on Saturday September 16, 2023, at 5:00pm local time. Storylines The event featured eight professional wrestling matches that involve different wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds and storylines. Wrestlers portrayed heroes (''technicos''), villains (''rudos''), or less distinguishable characters in scripted events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. Consejo Mundial De Lucha Libre
Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre Co., Ltd. (CMLL; , "World Wrestling Council") is a ''lucha libre'' professional wrestling promotion based in Mexico City. The promotion was previously known as ''Empresa Mexicana de Lucha Libre'' (''EMLL'') (''Mexican Wrestling Enterprise''). Founded in 1933, it is the oldest professional wrestling promotion still in existence. CMLL currently recognizes and promotes twelve "World Championships" for various weight divisions and classifications, six national level and six regional level championships. Lluvia (Spanish for "Rain"; born August 9, 1984 in Mexico City, Mexico) is the ring name of a Mexican ''luchadora enmascarada'', or masked female professional wrestler currently working for the Mexican professional wrestling promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) portraying a '' tecnico'' ("Good guy") wrestling character. Ricardo Amezquita Carreño (born December 9, 1968), better known by his ring name Virus, is a Mexican ''luchador'' (or professional wrestler). He is currently working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), and portrays a ''rudo'' ("Bad guy") wrestling character. Amezquita originally worked in CMLL's Minis division as Piratita Morgan, and held the CMLL World Mini-Estrella Championship under the name Damiancito El Guerrero, but was later moved into the regular division and given the name "Virus". He has served as one of the main trainers for CMLL's wrestling school, having had a hand in training hundreds of students at the CMLL school since 2008 either to some degree. Fuerza Guerrera
Fuerza Guerrera (born December 13, 1953) is a Mexican ''Luchador enmascarado'' (or masked professional wrestler) who made his debut in 1978. In his career Guerrera has worked for every major wrestling organization in Mexico including Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), AAA, Universal Wrestling Association (UWA), World Wrestling Association (WWA) and International Wrestling Revolution Group (IWRG). Octagón
Juan Escalera (born March 27, 1961) is a Mexican luchador enmascarado (masked professional wrestler) better known as Octagón. He is best known for working for Asistencia Asesoría y Administración (AAA), having worked for the company since it was founded in 1992. In 2011 he was inducted into the promotion's Hall of Fame. Octagón formed a tag team with El Hijo Del Santo to take on Los Gringos Locos (Eddie Guerrero and Art Barr) in a double mask versus hair match on the first pay-per-view put on by a Mexican wrestling promotion to air in the United States. Atlantis (born September 28, 1962) is a Mexican ''luchador enmascarado'' (masked professional wrestler), working for Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) where he performs as a ''Técnico'' (face or "good guy" character) and is one of the longest-tenured ''luchador'' in CMLL history. Atlantis was trained by Diablo Velasco, made his in-ring debut in 1983 and has always wrestled under the ring name Atlantis, named after the sunken city of Atlantis. Rugido
Rugido ( Spanish for roar; born February 26, 1991) is a Mexican '' luchador enmascarado'', or masked professional wrestler. He is currently working with Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL), where he is the one-half of current Mexican National Tag Team Champions alongside Magnus. He previously worked as Dizzy and La Parka Negra. His real name is not a matter of public record as is often the case with masked wrestlers in Mexico. Career On the September 15, 2021 episode of ''Informa'', Rugido was introduced as part of the stable Los Depredadores.
