CKMR-FM (104.5 FM, ''104.5 More Country'') is a radio station in Strathmore, Alberta. Owned by Golden West Broadcasting, it broadcasts a country format. History On December 9, 2014, Clear Sky Radio received approval from the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) to operate a new English language radio station in Strathmore, Alberta. The new station would operate at 104.5 MHz (channel 283B1) with an average effective radiated power (ERP) of 2,800 watts (maximum ERP of 7,000 watts with an effective height of antenna above average terrain of 101.5 metres). In January 2018, prior to its launch, the CRTC approved the sale of a 25% stake in the station to Golden West Broadcasting (which would serve as operating partner), with the remainder held by Clear Sky Radio's owners Mary McKinnon Mills and Paul Larsen—all via licensee 2044577 Alberta Ltd. CKOV-FM (103.9 FM, ''103.9 The Lake'') is a radio station in Kelowna, British Columbia. Owned by Paul Larsen via licensee Radius Holdings, Inc., it broadcasts an adult hits format. History On March 14, 2008, the CRTC approved in part an application by Vista Broadcast Group for a new FM station to serve Kelowna with an adult hits format. However, the applied for frequency of 96.1 MHz, with an average effective radiated power of 19,900 watts was rejected by the commission as unacceptable, due to approval of another FM station application by Sun Country Cablevision to use 96.3 MHz. Vista subsequently re-filed its application for a new frequency and on August 7 of the same year, the Commission approved the use of 103.9 MHz with an average ERP of 5,200 watts. Clear Sky Radio was a Canadian broadcasting company that owned radio stations in Alberta and British Columbia. The company, headquartered in Lethbridge, Alberta, was incorporated in 2006 after it was granted its first radio license. In January 2018, Clear Sky sold CJCY-FM in Medicine Hat to Rogers Media, and the yet-to-have-launched CKOV-FM in Strathmore to Golden West Broadcasting (with Clear Sky's co-owners Paul Larsen and Mary McKinnon Mills holding a minority stake). CKXY-FM (91.5 FM, ''91.5 Cochrane Now'') is a radio station licensed to Cochrane, Alberta. Owned by Golden West Broadcasting, it broadcasts a country format. History In February 2007, Tiessen Media received CRTC approval to add a rebroadcaster of CFIT-FM/ Airdrie at 95.3 FM in Cochrane, Alberta. In March 2009, the CRTC approved an application by Tiessen to move CFIT-FM-1's transmitter to a new location with a higher elevation, and change its frequency to 91.5.
