CHSP-FM is a Canadian radio station that broadcasts a country format at 97.7 FM in St. Paul, Alberta. The station is branded on-air as ''Real Country 97.7'' as part of the Real Country network branding in Alberta. The station signed on in 1975 and was owned by Newcap Broadcasting, until they were bought out by Stingray Group. On April 21, 2009, Newcap radio received approval by the CRTC to convert CHLW to the FM dial at 97.7 FM. After the flip to FM, the station's new callsign will become CHSP-FM. During the holiday season of 2009 (starting December 1) CHLW flipped to an all- Christmas music format, rebranding as "The Lakeland's holiday music station". Boom FM
Boom FM is a branding of classic hits radio stations broadcasting in Canada. The trademark is owned by Bell Media, although only two stations using the branding are owned by that company. The name "Boom" is a reference to baby boomers, who are the main target of the network. History "Boom" was first launched on May 1, 2003 as a network of French-language oldies stations, and originally included CFEI-FM and CHRD-FM. CFVM-FM and CFZZ-FM joined the network in 2005 after these stations were acquired by Astral Media from Corus Entertainment. All four stations previously had an adult contemporary format. Classic hits is a radio format which generally includes songs from the top 40 music charts from the late 1960s to the early 2000s, with music from the 1980s serving as the core of the format. The hertz (symbol: Hz) is the unit of frequency in the International System of Units (SI), equivalent to one event (or cycle) per second.
