CJFL
The Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) is a national Major Junior Canadian football league consisting of 19 teams playing in five provinces across Canada. The teams compete annually for the Canadian Bowl. Many CJFL players move on to professional football careers in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and elsewhere. Formed May 8, 1974, the CJFL's formal mission statement is: "The Canadian Junior Football League provides the opportunity for young men aged 17 to 22 to participate in highly competitive post-high school football that is unique in Canada. The goal of the league is to foster community involvement and yield a positive environment by teaching discipline, perseverance and cooperation. The benefits of the league are strong camaraderie, national competition and life-long friends." Langley Rams
The Langley Rams (formerly the South Surrey Rams and Big Kahuna Rams) are a Canadian Junior Football team based in Langley, British Columbia. The Rams play in the six-team B.C. Football Conference, which itself is part of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and competes annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. History The Rams were founded in 1948, where they were based in Surrey and known as the Surrey Rams and later the South Surrey Rams when the club briefly relocated to South Surrey. In 2006, the team was renamed the Big Kahuna Rams after a sponsorship deal was signed with Big Kahuna Sport Company. The Quinte Skyhawks are a Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) team located in Belleville, Ontario and representing the Quinte Region. The team plays in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) which is part of the CJFL and compete annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. History The Skyhawks program first began as a youth organization in 2012 that first offered football camps in 2015 and was founded by Peter and Brenda Gabriel. On September 28, 2020, it was announced that the Canadian Junior Football League had granted the organization an expansion junior football team to begin play in the Ontario Conference in 2021. Ottawa Sooners
The Ottawa Sooners are a Canadian football team based in Ottawa. The team plays in the Ontario Football Conference of the Canadian Junior Football League. The team has achieved success during its play in the CJFL, winning a total of four National Championships (1974, 1979, 1984 and 1992). After 35 years of competition (1960–1995) in the CJFL, the Sooners moved to the Quebec Junior Football League for the beginning of the 1996 season. There, the Sooners would win three Manson Cup Championships (1997, 2001 and 2002). The Sooners rejoined the CJFL for the start of the 2009 season. GTA Grizzlies
The GTA Grizzlies are a Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) team located in Etobicoke, Ontario and representing the Greater Toronto Area. They play in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) which is part of the CJFL and compete annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. History The Grizzlies were originally founded in 2014 by a group that included general manager, Mark Houlder, and team president, Karen Escoffery. The team replaced the former Brampton Bears CJFL franchise, where Houlder was the head coach from 2010 to 2011, which operated from 2010 to 2013. While the two franchises are not related, many of the rights of former Bears players were transferred to the Grizzlies upon the team's creation. London Beefeaters
The London Beefeaters are a Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) team located in London, Ontario. They play in the Ontario Football Conference (OFC) which is part of the CJFL, and compete annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. The team was founded in 1975 and earned their first championship in the OFC defeating the Hamilton Hurricanes 19–16 in 2012. On October 28, 2012, they advanced to the CJFL semi finals against the Saskatoon Hilltops at Gordie Howe Bowl in Saskatoon where they were defeated 51–7. On October 27, 2019, the Beefeaters earned their second OFC title defeating the Windsor Fratmen 28-20 at Alumni Field. Canadian Bowl
The Canadian Bowl is the championship of the Canadian Junior Football League. The three conference champions participate in the playdowns for the championship. One champion receives a bye to the game, while the other two play off in the Jostens Cup. The bye rotates among the three conferences. Clarke Stadium is a multipurpose facility located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The stadium was originally used for Canadian football. Over the years different sports have participated at the site. The Edmonton Huskies are a Canadian Junior Football team based in Edmonton, Alberta. The Huskies play in the six-team Prairie Football Conference, which itself is part of the Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) and competes annually for the national title known as the Canadian Bowl. History The Huskies were founded in 1954. In the 1960s the Huskies won 3 National Championships in a row and two in a row in 2004 and 2005 under the direction of head coach Mike Mclean. McMahon Stadium is a Canadian football stadium in Calgary, Alberta. The stadium is owned by the University of Calgary and operated by the McMahon Stadium Society.
