CJBQ
CJBQ is a Canadian radio station licensed at Belleville, Ontario. It is owned by Quinte Broadcasting along with CIGL-FM and CJTN-FM. CJBQ broadcasts at 800 kHz at a power of 10 kW. The transmitter is located in Prince Edward County. The antenna is a six-tower array with differing patterns day and night, to protect Class-A clear-channel station XEROK-AM in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, as well as other Canadian and U.S. stations on the same frequency. Since the late 2000s, CJBQ is the only remaining Canadian AM radio station operating between Ottawa and the Greater Toronto Area. CJBQ's format includes country, oldies and adult contemporary. It is mostly locally programmed, with the exception of John Tesh's syndicated program that airs during evenings. CJBQ also carries live broadcasts of Belleville Senators hockey games. CIGL-FM
CIGL-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting on the assigned frequency of 97.1 MHz in Belleville, Ontario, with the on-air branding of ''Mix 97''. It airs a hot adult contemporary format. History The station first started in 1962 as CJBQ-FM, then changed its callsign to CIGL-FM in 1978. The former CJBQ callsign currently belongs to its sister station CJBQ. The call letters CIGL were often featured with seagulls in logos and advertisements, leading many to conclude that the call letters were a short form for "seagull". Until 1995 CIGL featured essentially a "Beautiful Music" format playing many instrumental renditions of popular songs by artists such as Percy Faith, Nelson Riddle, Richard Clayderman, Frank Mills and Floyd Cramer. Belleville is a city in Ontario, Canada situated on the eastern end of Lake Ontario, located at the mouth of the Moira River and on the Bay of Quinte. The Belleville Senators are a professional ice hockey team in the American Hockey League (AHL) that began play in the 2017–18 season as the top minor league affiliate of the National Hockey League team, the Ottawa Senators. CHMS-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 97.7 FM in Bancroft, Ontario. The station airs a Classic Hits and music mix format using the on-air branding Moose FM, and is owned by Vista Broadcast Group. The station originally began broadcasting as CJNH in 1975, on the AM band at 1240 kHz and partially rebroadcasting CJBQ in Belleville, and CJTN in Trenton, to the south. CJTN-FM is a radio station in Trenton, Ontario, broadcasting on the assigned frequency of 107.1 MHz, serving Belleville the Quinte region. Owned by Quinte Broadcasting, the station airs a classic rock music format branded as ''Rock 107''. History The station began broadcasting at 1270 kHz on January 22, 1979, at a power of 1000 watts, to service Trenton; hence the TN in the call sign. Ted Snider was the station's first manager. The original AM transmitter was located at Carrying Place, just south of Trenton. Adult contemporary music (AC) is a form of radio-played popular music, ranging from 1960s vocal and 1970s soft rock music to predominantly ballad-heavy music of the present day, with varying degrees of easy listening, pop, soul, R&B, quiet storm and rock influence. Adult contemporary is generally a continuation of the easy listening and soft rock style that became popular in the 1960s and 1970s with some adjustments that reflect the evolution of pop/rock music. Adult contemporary tends to have lush, soothing and highly polished qualities where emphasis on melody and harmonies is accentuated. It is usually melodic enough to get a listener's attention, and is inoffensive and pleasurable enough to work well as background music. John Tesh
John Frank Tesh (born July 9, 1952) is an American pianist and composer of pop music, as well as a radio host and television presenter. He hosts the ''Intelligence for Your Life'' radio show. In addition, since 2014, he has hosted ''Intelligence for Your Life TV'' with his wife Connie Sellecca. Tesh has won six Emmys, has four gold albums, two Grammy nominations, and an Associated Press award for investigative journalism. Tesh has sold over eight million records. Bancroft, Ontario
Bancroft () is a town located on the York River in Hastings County in the Canadian province of Ontario. It was first settled in the 1850s by United Empire Loyalists and Irish immigrants. From the mid-1950s to about 1982, mining was the primary industry. A village until 1999, Bancroft then merged with Dungannon Township to form the Town of Bancroft. The population at the time of the 2016 Census was 3,881; the regional population is 40,000. There are 150,000 visitors to Bancroft, annually. Trenton (2001 population 16,770) is a large unincorporated community in Central Ontario in the municipality of Quinte West, Ontario, Canada. Located on the Bay of Quinte, it is the starting point for the Trent-Severn Waterway, which continues northwest to Peterborough and eventually Port Severn on Georgian Bay. History The Trenton area is part of the traditional area of the Mississauga and other Indigenous First Nations.
