CIRX-FM
CIRX-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 94.3 FM in Prince George, British Columbia. The station airs an active rock format branded on-air as "94.3 The Goat". The station was launched in 1983 with the call sign CIBC, and was later changed to CIRX. It had most of the time been Prince George's only rock station until 2003, when CKDV-FM (formerly CKPG) launched with a classic rock format. By 2004, the station began moving towards an active/alternative rock format, but mellowed out by the late 2000s. As of 2011, due to CKDV-FM switching to classic hits, CIRX-FM is once again the only rock station in Prince George. CIRX-FM-1 (95.9 FM, ''95.9 The Goat'') is a Canadian radio station licensed to Vanderhoof, British Columbia. Owned by Vista Radio, it broadcasts an active rock format. The station formerly broadcast on AM as CIVH, but was forced to move permanently to FM in 2018 due to transmitter damage. History Prince George Broadcasting Ltd. (owner of CJCI) received a licence for a new AM station at Vanderhoof in 1973. CIVH began broadcasting on 1340 kHz later that same year. A year later in 1974, CIVH was authorized to operate a rebroadcast transmitter at Fort St. James, on 1480 kHz with the call sign CIFJ. Also in 1974, CIFL was added to broadcast at 1450 kHz in Fraser Lake. On October 19, 1993, the station had received CRTC approval to convert CIFJ operating at 1480 AM to 92.7 MHz on the FM dial, although the move did not take place. The company only owned stations in British Columbia until 2007, when it expanded outside the province by acquiring an existing station in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories and launching a new one in Grande Prairie, Alberta. It has since also expanded into Ontario, with the acquisition of Haliburton Broadcasting Group in 2012. Vista Radio was founded by Paul Mann, Jason Mann, Margot Micallef, Barb Fairclough and Bryan Edwards in 2004. On April 23, 2012, Vista announced a deal to acquire Haliburton Broadcasting Group, a broadcast group with 24 stations in small or mid-sized markets in Ontario, in cooperation with Westerkirk Capital. CKDV-FM is a Canadian radio station broadcasting at 99.3 FM in Prince George, British Columbia. The station plays a classic hits format branded as ''99.3 Rewind Radio''. The station is owned by Jim Pattison Group. History The station was originally launched in 1946 as CKPG 1230 AM, and moved to 550 the following year. The station, owned by CKPG Radio Ltd., was an affiliate of the CBC's Trans-Canada Network. In 1961, CKPG Radio also launched the city's first television station, CKPG-TV. The stations were acquired by Q Broadcasting in 1969. In 1981, a sister FM station, CIOI, was launched. Vanderhoof is a district municipality near the geographical centre of British Columbia, Canada.
