CIBK-FM (''98.5 Virgin Radio'') is a Top 40/CHR radio station based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. The Bell Media outlet operates at 98.5 FM with an effective radiated power of 100 kW from a transmitter located at the intersection of Old Banff Coach Road and 85 Street Southwest, and its studios located at CTV studios on Patina Rise. As of Winter 2020, CIBK is the 16th-most-listened-to radio station in the Calgary market according to a PPM data report released by Numeris. History The station received approval by the CRTC in 2001. When CIBK made its debut on September 6, 2002 as ''Vibe 98.5'', they thought they would become the city's first R&B/ hip hop outlet, but they were beaten to the punch by CKIS by about a month. CKMX is a radio station broadcasting at 1060 AM in Calgary, Alberta, and owned by Bell Media. Its comedy format is branded on-air as ''Funny 1060''. CKMX's studios are located on Centre Street in Eau Claire, and its transmitter site is near Southeast Calgary. At night, CKMX can be heard as far west as Battle Ground and Snohomish, Washington. It can also be heard on shortwave on 6.03 MHz via its repeater CFVP, reaching western North America. Virgin Radio launched in the United Kingdom in 1993. Bell Media Radio, G.P. (formerly CHUM Radio), operating as iHeartRadio Canada, is the radio broadcasting and music events subsidiary of Canadian media conglomerate Bell Media. Jack FM is a radio network brand, licensed by Sparknet Communications, with the exception of the European Union where it is licensed by Oxis Media. Rhythmic Contemporary
Rhythmic contemporary, also known as Rhythmic Top 40, Rhythmic CHR or rhythmic crossover, is a primarily American music-radio format that includes a mix of EDM, upbeat rhythmic pop, hip hop and upbeat R&B hits. Rhythmic contemporary never uses hard rock or country in its airplay, but it may occasionally use a reggae, Latin, reggaeton, or a urban contemporary gospel hit. Essentially, the format is a cross between mainstream radio and urban contemporary radio formats.
