CHQM-FM (103.5 FM) is a Canadian radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia. It broadcasts with an effective radiated power of 100,000 watts from a transmitter on Mount Seymour and airs an adult contemporary format. It is owned by Bell Media. CHQM's studio is located at 750 Burrard Street in Downtown Vancouver. The station is carried on Shaw Direct channel 509, and also carried on Telus Optik TV channel 7025. History CHQM-FM signed on the air on August 10, 1960 with a mainly instrumental easy listening format, several months after its original AM sister station, CHQM (whose programming CHQM-FM mainly simulcast), first went on-air on December 7, 1959. The original owner of CHQM-AM and -FM was Vancouver Broadcast Associates Ltd., headed by Bill Bellman and Jack Stark, with the stations' studios and offices, then located on 1134 Burrard Street. CHMB is a Canadian AM radio station, broadcasting from Vancouver, British Columbia on 1320 kHz. The station broadcasts a Multilingual language programming. CHMB's studios and transmitter towers are located in Richmond. CHMB and CJMR (no relationship) are the only stations in Canada which broadcast on 1320 kHz. CHMB is owned and operated by Mainstream Broadcasting Corporation, whose owner is Vancouver businessman James Ho. It started in 1973 as Overseas Chinese Voice (OCV). Pure Country is a Canadian radio network, that airs on stations owned by Bell Media. Launched in 2019 as a unifying branding for all of the company's country-formatted stations across Canada, the network broadcasts on nine stations nationwide, as well as on selected digital subchannels of radio stations in markets where the company offers digital radio service but does not have a country-formatted primary station. CFBT-FM (94.5 MHz) is a commercial radio station in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Owned by Bell Media, the station broadcasts a Top 40/CHR format branded as ''94.5 Virgin Radio''. CFBT is also the default top 40 station for nearby Bellingham, Washington, as there are no top 40 stations targeting that area. Mount Seymour
Mount Seymour is a mountain located in Mount Seymour Provincial Park in the District of North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is a part of the North Shore Mountains, rising to the north from the shores of Burrard Inlet and Indian Arm to a summit of above the Indian River and Deep Cove neighbourhoods. Mount Seymour is most commonly identified for its ski area of the same name, and as a popular hiking area. It is named in honour of Frederick Seymour, second governor of the Colony of British Columbia. The name is used to refer to the ridge although the main summit is one of several, and is also known as Third Peak. Move Radio
Move Radio is a brand of adult contemporary radio stations heard across Canada. The network was launched on December 27, 2020, by Bell Media. The launch of the network involved a re-branding of eleven radio stations across Canada, five in Ontario, four in British Columbia, one in Nova Scotia and one in New Brunswick. The network currently broadcasts on four stations nationwide. The launch of this network also involved the flipping of CJMG-FM's contemporary hit radio, Top 40/CHR format to adult contemporary, AC, as well as the contemporary hit radio, CHR format of CIBX-FM to hot AC. 750 Burrard Street (also known as 969 Robson Street, or "Robson Central") is a building in Downtown Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at the northeast corner of Robson Street and Burrard Street. History This modern architecture building was constructed in 1957 and was designed by local architects Harold Semmens and Douglas Simpson and was home of the main branch of the Vancouver Public Library from 1957 to 1995. In December 1996, Canada's first (and ultimately only) Virgin Megastore opened on the lower level; Virgin eventually decided to exit the Canadian market and sold the location to HMV in September 2005. Burrard Street is a major thoroughfare in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It is the central street of Downtown Vancouver and the Financial District. The street is named for Burrard Inlet, located at its northern terminus, which in turn is named for Sir Harry Burrard-Neale, 2nd Baronet, Sir Harry Burrard-Neale. AM broadcasting is radio broadcasting using amplitude modulation (AM) transmissions. It was the first method developed for making audio radio transmissions, and is still used worldwide, primarily for medium wave (also known as "AM band") transmissions, but also on the longwave and shortwave radio bands. Easy listening (including mood music) is a popular music genre and radio format that was most popular during the 1950s to the 1970s. It is related to middle of the road (MOR) music and encompasses instrumental recordings of standards, hit songs, non- rock vocals and instrumental covers of selected popular rock songs. It mostly concentrates on music that pre-dates the rock and roll era, characteristically on music from the 1940s and 1950s. It was differentiated from the mostly instrumental beautiful music format by its variety of styles, including a percentage of vocals, arrangements and tempos to fit various parts of the broadcast day.
