CFS Moisie
Canadian Forces Station Moisie, also known as CFS Moisie, is a former Canadian Forces Station located in the community of Moisie, Quebec. It was operational as a Pinetree Line radar station from June 1953 to 1988. RCAF Station Moisie The Royal Canadian Air Force began construction of RCAF Station Moisie in 1952 at a location approximately east of the centre of Sept-Îles. The station was situated at Pointe Moisie, which is on the west bank of the Moisie River where it meets the St. Lawrence River. At the time of construction, the RCAF had been calling the facility RCAF Station Clarke City; however, since the actual town of Clarke City was located west of the site, on the Sainte-Marguerite River, the RCAF decided to name the site after the adjacent community of Moisie. Radome
A radome (a portmanteau of radar and dome) is a structural, weatherproof enclosure that protects a radar antenna (radio), antenna. The radome is constructed of material transparent to radio waves. Saint Lawrence Seaway
The St. Lawrence Seaway (french: la Voie Maritime du Saint-Laurent) is a system of locks, canals, and channels in Canada and the United States that permits oceangoing vessels to travel from the Atlantic Ocean to the Great Lakes of North America, as far inland as Duluth, Minnesota, at the western end of Lake Superior. The Chemin de fer Arnaud, now Chemin de fer Arnaud Quebec (formerly ARND and CFA) (in English, the Arnaud Railway) is a private Canadian short line railway owned by Société ferroviaire et portuaire de Pointe-Noire (SFPPN) operating in the province of Quebec. Opened in 1965 by the Wabush Mining Company, which mines iron ore in Wabush, NL, the railway operates a line running around Sept-Îles Harbour from Arnaud Junction, on the Quebec North Shore and Labrador Railway to ship loading facilities at Pointe-Noire. RCAF Station Chibougamau
CFS Chibougamau, or RCAF Station Chibougamau (pre-1967), housed the 10 Radar Squadron (Royal Canadian Air Force). The facility was a military radar installation in Chibougamau, Quebec, Canada, that formed part of the Pinetree Line. Shortly after opening, in 1963, it was converted to semi-automated operation using the NORAD SAGE system. The station was operated exclusively by the Royal Canadian Air Force.
