Jake Edwards (radio Personality)
Jake Edwards (born in Moncton, New Brunswick), also known as Bro Jake or Brother Jake, is a Canadian radio personality based in British Columbia. Edwards has been best known for his fictional comedy character "The Champ". For his skill, Edwards won the 2001 Canadian Music Network Radio Personality of the Year Award. For the same year, Edwards' show on Rock 101 was among the highest-rated in the BBM Canada ratings. Vancouver's Classic Rock 101 (CFMI) had been the home of Bro Jake for over 17 years. In 2013, Corus Entertainment (Rock 101) declined to renew the contract of its veteran radio personality. 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships
The 2009 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships were held 12–16 August 2009 in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, on Lake Banook. The competition was organized by the International Canoe Federation (ICF). The Canadian city was selected to host the championships in October 2003 after having done so previously in 1997. Final preparations were made after the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, with competition format changed for the first time since the 2001 championships. Four exhibition events for both paddleability and women's canoe were added. Sponsorship was local within the province of Nova Scotia and the Halifax Regional Municipality. Media coverage was provided from Canada, Europe and the United States on the Internet, television and mobile phone. 669 canoeists from 68 nations participated at the championships themselves. Arnie Patterson
Charles Arnold "Arnie" Patterson (2 July 1928 – 9 March 2011) was a Canadian journalist, public relations professional and broadcaster. Born in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Canada, Patterson began his career after university as a reporter for ''The Chronicle Herald'' and ''Mail-Star'' newspapers in Halifax before moving to Toronto, joining the ''Toronto Telegram'' in 1954. Patterson was public relations director for Dominion Steel and Coal Corporation of Sydney, Nova Scotia on 23 October 1958 when a massive bump hit Colliery #2 in the coal mining town of Springhill, trapping 174 miners and killing 75. Patterson spent a month in the town, relaying information to the miners' families and to the 150 reporters who had made their way to Springhill to cover the disaster which had garnered worldwide attention. "Rock and Roll" is a song by English rock band Led Zeppelin, which was first released as the second track from the band's fourth album in 1971. The song includes a guest appearance by the Rolling Stones pianist Ian Stewart. In 1972 Robert Christgau called it "simply the most dynamic hard-rock song in the music."
