CKFX-FM is a Canadian radio station, which broadcasts at 101.9 FM in North Bay, Ontario. The station airs a mainstream rock format under the brand name ''101.9 Rock''. The station uses the same general format as, and shares some programming with, CJRQ-FM in Sudbury and CJQQ-FM in Timmins. History The station was originally launched in Iroquois Falls in 1922, as CFCH, a corporate communications service for lumber camps owned by Abitibi Power and Paper Company. It was subsequently acquired by Roy Thomson in 1930, and moved to North Bay. The station originally launched in North Bay at 930 on the AM dial, moving to 1230 in 1941 and then to 600 in 1942. CKNY-TV
CKNY-DT (channel 10) is a television station in North Bay, Ontario, Canada, part of the CTV Television Network. Owned and operated by network parent Bell Media, the station maintains a transmitter adjacent to Ski Hill Road (southwest of Highway 534) in Nipissing. CKNY-DT is part of the CTV Northern Ontario sub-system. It essentially operates as a ''de facto'' semi-satellite of CICI-TV in Sudbury, running the same programming as that station at all times (except for certain commercials and regional news inserts during its newscasts). CKNY-TV's studios were located on Oak and Wyld Streets (near the shoreline of Lake Nipissing) in downtown North Bay, and were closed in 2020. CFCH-FM ''(defunct)'' was a Canadian community radio station, broadcasting at 103.5 FM in Chase, British Columbia. It was last owned by the Chase and District Community Radio Society. History On October 6, 2004, the CRTC approved the Chase and District Lions Community Club's application to operate an English-language developmental community FM radio station, broadcasting at 103.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 4.7 watts. The station commenced broadcasting in 2005. Ownership was transferred to the Chase and District Community Radio Society in 2007. On August 1, 2008, The CRTC approved the Radio Society's application for a regular, English-language, low-power Type B community FM radio station at 103.5 MHz (channel 278LP) with an effective radiated power of 19.7 watts.
