CFAP-DT, virtual channel 2.1 ( UHF digital channel 35), is a Noovo owned-and-operated television station licensed to Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. The station is owned by the Bell Media subsidiary of BCE Inc. CFAP-DT's studios are located on the corner of Rue d'Youville and Rue Saint-Joachim (co-located with sister stations CHIK-FM and CITF-FM) in the Quebec City borough of La Cité-Limoilou, and its transmitter is located at Édifice Marie-Guyart, in downtown Quebec City. On cable, the station is available on Vidéotron channel 5 and in high-definition on digital channel 605. Noovo is a Canadian French-language terrestrial television network owned by the Bell Media subsidiary of BCE Inc. The network has five owned-and-operated and three affiliated stations throughout Quebec, although it can also be seen over-the-air in some bordering markets in the provinces of Ontario and New Brunswick. It can also be received in some other parts of Canada on cable television or direct broadcast satellite. The network was launched in 1986 as Télévision Quatre-Saisons (TQS), and was known by that name until Remstar, which had bought the network in 2008, renamed it V on August 31, 2009. It was the namesake and flagship property of V Media Group (now known as Remstar Media Group), a separate company majority-owned by Remstar owner Maxime Rémillard (partially through Remstar). CHIK-FM is a French-language radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 98.9 MHz with an effective radiated power of 41,000 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna. The station's transmitter is located at Mount Bélair. The station has a mainstream rock format and is part of the "Énergie" network which operates across Quebec. CHIK started operations on July 29, 1982, as a sister station to the now-defunct CJRP and originally had an easy listening format, similar to CITF-FM and CHOI-FM as per their respective conditions of licence. CITF-FM is a French-language Canadian radio station located in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. Owned and operated by Bell Media, it broadcasts on 107.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 37,000 watts ( class C1) using an omnidirectional antenna. The station's transmitter is located at Mount Bélair. The station has an adult contemporary format since 1990 and is part of the "Rouge FM" network which operates across Quebec and Eastern Ontario. CITF-FM started operations on July 22, 1982 as a sister station to the now-defunct CKCV 1280 with a beautiful music format. The latter closed in September 1990, as part of a failed attempt of Telemedia (then owner of both stations) to buy CHRC 800, as at the time owners were limited to only one AM station and one FM station per market. Jean Pouliot
Jean Adélard Pouliot, OC (June 6, 1923 – August 8, 2004) was a Canadian broadcasting pioneer who helped establish television stations in Kitchener, Ontario, and Quebec City, Quebec. Pouliot was the president and CEO for the first publicly-traded Quebec broadcasting company, Télé-Capitale, and started two French language networks: TVA (co-founded with Roland Giguère of Télé-Métropole in 1971), and TQS (Télévision Quatre-Saisons) (launched in 1986). Pouliot founded CFCF Inc. in 1979 with his purchase of CFCF-TV, CFCF-AM, and CFQR-FM from the Bronfman family. CFCF Inc. went public in 1985, at which time it also included CF Cable TV, purchased by Pouliot in 1982. Pouliot was the Chairman and CEO of CFCF Inc. from 1979 to 1993, and remained Chairman until the company was sold to Vidéotron in 1997.
