The Center on Education and the Workforce (CEW) is an independent, non-partisan research institute affiliated with Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., United States. The center carries out research with the goal of better aligning education and training with workforce and labor demand. Areas of research The three areas of research are: * Jobs: monitoring the supply and demand for educated and skilled labor and linking postsecondary curricula with career opportunities; * Skills: mapping the specification of 21st Century occupation competencies, and the ties to education and training frameworks; * People: identifying the effect of changing job requirements and skills demand on students and current workers, with a focus on access and success by race and socioeconomic status. Clinton Engineer Works
The Clinton Engineer Works (CEW) was the production installation of the Manhattan Project that during World War II produced the enriched uranium used in the 1945 bombing of Hiroshima, as well as the first examples of reactor-produced plutonium. It consisted of production facilities arranged at three major sites, various utilities including a power plant, and the town of Oak Ridge. It was in East Tennessee, about west of Knoxville, and was named after the town of Clinton, to the north. The production facilities were mainly in Roane County, and the northern part of the site was in Anderson County. The Manhattan District Engineer, Kenneth Nichols, moved the Manhattan District headquarters from Manhattan to Oak Ridge in August 1943. An electroshock weapon is a less-lethal weapon that utilizes an electric shock to incapacitate a target by either temporarily disrupting voluntary muscle control and/or through pain compliance.
