Central Bank Digital Currency
A central bank digital currency (CBDC) (also called digital fiat currency or digital base money) is a digital currency issued by a central bank, rather than by a commercial bank. A report by the Bank for International Settlements states that, although the term "central bank digital currency" is not well-defined, "it is envisioned by most to be a new form of central bank money ..that is different from balances in traditional reserve or settlement accounts." The present concept of CBDCs was inspired by Bitcoin and similar blockchain-based cryptocurrencies, but differs from such a virtual currency and cryptocurrency in that a CBDC is or would be issued by a state. Most CBDC implementations will likely not use or need any sort of distributed ledger such as a blockchain. CBDCs are presently mostly in the hypothetical stage, with some in proof-of-concept programmes. CFWH-FM
CFWH-FM is a Canadian radio station, broadcasting at 94.5 FM in Whitehorse, Yukon. The station broadcasts the programming of the CBC Radio One network known as CBC North. Until its closure in 2012, CFWH's sister television station was CFWH-TV. History CFWH was launched in 1951 as a local community station on 1340 kHz. On November 10, 1958 it was taken over by the CBC as the first station of the newly formed CBC Northern Radio Service. CFWH received CBC news and topical programs by picking up CBX Edmonton and relaying the broadcast. Tapes recorded in Montreal, Quebec were also flown in on regular airline flights. Eventually the station was linked into the primary CBC network feed. In 1960, the frequency was changed to 1240 and then to 570 in 1964. On May 21, 2009, the CBC applied to the CRTC to convert CFWH to 94.5 MHz. The station received approval on October 27, 2009. Community Business Development Corporation
The Community Business Development Corporation (CBDC) (French: La Corporation de développement communautaire) is a federal and provincially funded not-for-profit organization. CBDCs assist in the creation of small businesses and in the expansion and modernization of existing small businesses by providing financial and technical services to entrepreneurs. The organisation was founded in the 1970s and currently holds 41 offices throughout Atlantic Canada. The 41 offices are autonomous corporations but each work with their respective Provincial Association office. The Provincial Association offices are located in; Alberton, PEI; Elmsdale, NS; Mount Pearl, NL; and Bathurst, NB. These 4 offices work with the Atlantic Association of CBDCs to constantly improve the services offered by the CBDC network. The CBDCs are a member of the Community Futures Network of Canada.
