CAP Aviation CAP-232
The CAP Aviation CAP-23x family is a family of aircraft designed for competition aerobatics. The CAP 230 airframe was a direct development of the CAP 21 competition single seater strengthened to cope with a 6-cylinder Lycoming AEIO-540 engine instead of the original 4-cylinder Lycoming AEIO-360. Design and development The CAP 230 was primarily developed in 1985 for the French Air Force. From the basic CAP 21 airframe, trailing edge apex triangular surfaces were added to the basic trapezoidal wing and a full wooden construction. It withstood +10/-10 G-forces, had a 270 degrees/second roll rate and a top speed of 400 km/h. Between 1986-1990 this was the mount of the French Air Force aerobatics team (French: ''Equipe de Voltige de l'Armée de l'Air''). The CAP 231 was developed in 1990. The fuselage design remained unchanged and only leading edge triangular apex surfaces were added to reduce buffeting during high G pullups. The CAP 231 was world champion in 1990. Between ...

Airexpo
Airexpo is a French airshow started in 1987. It is the third most important airshow of France. It is organized by the students of the ''grandes écoles'' ''École nationale de l'aviation civile'' and those of the ''Institut Supérieur de l'Aéronautique et de l'Espace''. It is held yearly usually on the Muret - Lherm Aerodrome. The 36th edition will take place on May 4, 2022. Presentation The aircraft are representative of the world of aviation, from the Supermarine Spitfire to the F-18, through the little Robin DR400. The airliners are also regularly represented with the participation of Airbus and ATR, with the Airbus A380 and A340-600 or the ATR 72-500. History From Lasbordes to Muret The first show was held at the Toulouse – Lasbordes Airport. However, with the number of visitors increasing, the association decided to move to Muret - Lherm Aerodrome. 16th and 17th editions (2002-2003) The 16th edition welcomed the ''Patrouille de France'' 1 June 2002. For the 17 ...

Aerobatic Aircraft
An aerobatic aircraft is an aerodyne (a heavier-than-air aircraft) used in aerobatics, both for flight exhibitions and aerobatic competitions. Most fall into one of two categories, aircraft used for training and by flight demonstration teams, which are often standard trainers or fighters, and aircraft especially designed for aerobatics, usually at the expense of other attributes, such as stability, carrying passengers or endurance. Dates are of first flight. Powered aircraft Australia * AESL Airtourer, Victa/AESL Airtourer (1959) Belgium * Renard R.34 (1934) * Stampe SV.4 (1933) * Tipsy Nipper (Homebuilt - 1957) Brazil * Embraer EMB 312 Tucano (operated by the Smoke Squadron, ''Esquadrilha da Fumaça'') (1980) * Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano (operated by the Smoke Squadron, ''Esquadrilha da Fumaça'') (2012) * Instituto de Pesquisas Tecnologicas IPT-16 Surubim (1959) * Neiva Universal (operated by the Smoke Squadron, ''Esquadrilha da Fumaça'') (1966) * ACS-100 Sora (2008) * ...

Low-wing Aircraft
A monoplane is a fixed-wing aircraft configuration with a single mainplane, in contrast to a biplane or other types of multiplanes, which have multiple planes. A monoplane has inherently the highest efficiency and lowest drag of any wing configuration and is the simplest to build. However, during the early years of flight, these advantages were offset by its greater weight and lower manoeuvrability, making it relatively rare until the 1930s. Since then, the monoplane has been the most common form for a fixed-wing aircraft. Characteristics Support and weight The inherent efficiency of the monoplane is best achieved in the cantilever wing, which carries all structural forces internally. However, to fly at practical speeds the wing must be made thin, which requires a heavy structure to make it strong and stiff enough. External bracing can be used to improve structural efficiency, reducing weight and cost. For a wing of a given size, the weight reduction allows it to fly slower ...

Extra 300
The Extra Flugzeugbau EA300 is a two-seat aerobatic monoplane capable of Unlimited category competition. It was designed in 1987 by Walter Extra, a German aerobatic pilot, and built by Extra Flugzeugbau. Design and development Design of the Extra 300 was based on the Extra 230, an early 1980s monoplane having a wing made of wood. The Extra 300 has a welded steel tube fuselage covered in aluminium and fabric. The midset wing has a carbon fiber composite spar and carbon composite skins.Lambert 1993, p. 100. A symmetrical airfoil, mounted with a zero angle of incidence, provides equal performance in both upright and inverted flight. The landing gear is fixed taildragger style with composite main legs and fiberglass wheel pants. The powerplant is a fuel-injected Lycoming AEIO-540 which produces 300 horsepower (224 kW). The first two-seat Extra 300 made its maiden flight on 6 May 1988, with German type certification following on 16 May 1990. The single-seat Extra 300S f ...
