CANT 23
The CANT 23 was an Italian trimotor airliner built by CANT in the late 1920s. Design The CANT 23 was an entirely metallic aircraft with a conventional look, a three-engine, biplane with a fixed trolley. The fuselage, with a rectangular section, was made of duraluminium and was characterized by a closed passenger compartment equipped with 10 single armchairs that overlooked a series of five rectangular windows on each side. The cockpit was open, placed on the upper part in front of the wings and protected by a windshield. CANT (''Cantieri Aeronautici e Navali Triestini'', the Trieste Shipbuilding and Naval Aeronautics; also sometimes labelled C.R.D.A. CANT) was an Italian aviation company which originally specialised in building naval aircraft, formed in 1923 as part of the CNT (''Cantiere Navale Triestino'', or in English Trieste Naval Shipyard). The company produced a number of designs for the Italian military, but ceased operations in 1944. CANT 22
__NOTOC__ The CANT 22 was a flying boat airliner built in Italy in the 1920s and operated by Società Italiana Servizi Aerei (SISA) on their Adriatic routes. It was a conventional biplane design with unstaggered wings braced by Warren trusses. The three engines were mounted in nacelles carried in the interplane gap. Accommodation for passengers was provided within the hull, but the pilots sat in an open cockpit. Biplane
A biplane is a fixed-wing aircraft with two main wings stacked one above the other. The first powered, controlled aeroplane to fly, the Wright Flyer, used a biplane wing arrangement, as did many aircraft in the early years of aviation. While a biplane wing structure has a structural advantage over a monoplane, it produces more drag than a monoplane wing. Improved structural techniques, better materials and higher speeds made the biplane configuration obsolete for most purposes by the late 1930s. Warren Errol Truss, (born 8 October 1948) is a former Australian politician who served as the 16th Deputy Prime Minister of Australia and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development in the Abbott Government and the Turnbull Government. Truss served as the federal leader of the National Party of Australia (The Nationals) between 2007 and 11 February 2016 when he announced his decision to retire and not contest the 2016 federal election. The Isotta Fraschini Asso 200 was a water-cooled inline engine developed by Isotta Fraschini in the late 1920s. Design and development ''Fabrica Automobili Isotta Fraschini'' (Isotta Fraschini) was founded in 1898 to manufacture cars and internal combustion engines. Isotta Fraschini engines powered many Italian airships and military aircraft during WWI, becoming one of the largest engine producers in Italy. At the outbreak of WWII Isotta Fraschini had a large portfolio of engines but suffered from a lack of large orders, with a few exceptions. The Ford Trimotor (also called the "Tri-Motor", and nicknamed the "Tin Goose") is an American three-engined transport aircraft. Production started in 1925 by the companies of Henry Ford and ended on June 7, 1933, after 199 had been made. It was designed for the civil aviation market, but also saw service with military units. Design and development In the early 1920s, Henry Ford, along with a group of 19 other investors including his son Edsel, invested in the Stout Metal Airplane Company. Stout, a bold and imaginative salesman, sent a mimeographed form letter to leading manufacturers, blithely asking for $1,000 and adding: "For your one thousand dollars you will get one definite promise: You will never get your money back."
