It includes portions of Santa Clara, San Mateo, and Santa Cruz counties, extending from the southwestern San Francisco Bay Area through the Santa Cruz Mountains to the Pacific coast. Since the 2022 election, the district is landlocked and includes the Salinas Valley and downtown and eastern San Jose. Due to the presence of Silicon Valley, the district had a median household income of $149,375, the second highest of any congressional district in the country. Due to the presence of Silicon Valley, the district had a median household income of $149,375, the second highest of any congressional district in the country. After redistricting, the district picked up agricultural areas of Monterey County, and its median household income dropped substantially, to $90,456. California's 19th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California, currently represented by . The district covers much of Santa Clara County, including most of the city of San Jose. Following redistricting in 2021, the district includes most of Santa Cruz County and parts of Santa Clara County, Monterey County and San Luis Obispo County. The new 19th district includes the south side of San Jose and the entire cities of Santa Cruz, Monterey, Seaside, Paso Robles, and Atascadero. For much of the 20th century prior to the early 1990s, the district had encompassed areas to the south and much of Los Angeles County, California. 2022 United States House Of Representatives Elections In California
The 2022 United States House of Representatives elections in California were held on November 8, 2022, to elect representatives for the 52 seats in California (reduced from 53 in the redistricting cycle following the 2020 United States Census). This marked the first time in the state's history where it lost a seat. This was the second election using congressional districts drawn by the California Citizens Redistricting Commission (after 2012 following the 2010 census). The commission submitted the final maps to the California Secretary of State on December 27, 2021. These new districts are considered "enacted" as of December 27, 2021. However, there was a 90-day period that ended on March 27, 2022, for any referendum petition to be filed to prevent the maps from becoming effective. Anna Eshoo
Anna A. Eshoo ( ; née Georges; born December 13, 1942) is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative from . She is a member of the Democratic Party. The district, numbered as the 14th district from 1993 to 2013, is based in Silicon Valley, including the cities of Redwood City, Sunnyvale, Mountain View, and Palo Alto, as well as part of San Jose. Eshoo is the only Assyrian American in Congress and the only Armenian American woman in Congress. Early life and education Anna Eshoo was born in New Britain, Connecticut, of Assyrian and Armenian heritage. Her mother fled from Armenia to Iraq, and subsequently to the United States. California's 16th congressional district is a congressional district in the U.S. state of California, which as of the most recent general election was located in the central San Joaquin Valley. The district is currently represented by . On 20 December 2021, the state redistricting commission unanimously approved a new map of congressional districts, under which the new District 16 overlaps largely with the old District 18. The primary election of June 2022 was the first to feature the new districts; however, sitting representatives will reflect the old district boundaries until the general election in November 2022.
