C. J. Davis
Emmanuel "C.J." F. Davis, Jr. (born February 2, 1987) is an American football Guard (American football), guard who is currently a Free Agent (NFL). He was signed by the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent in 2009. He played college football at Pittsburgh Panthers football, Pittsburgh. He is the cousin of former NFL tight end Lovett Purnell. Professional career Carolina Panthers After going undrafted in the 2009 NFL Draft, Davis signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent on April 26, 2009. He missed the entire 2009 season due to an ankle injury. He was released on September 12, 2011, with an injury settlement. Denver Broncos Davis signed with the Denver Broncos on February 15, 2012. Seattle Seahawks On July 24, 2014, Davis signed with the Seattle Seahawks. The Seahawks placed Davis on injured reserve on August 26, 2014. Davis was released on May 5, 2015. Guard (American Football)
In gridiron football, a guard (G), otherwise known as an offensive guard (OG), is a player who lines up between the center and the tackles on the offensive line of a football team on the line of scrimmage used primarily for blocking. Right guards (RG) is the term for the guards on the right of the offensive line, while left guards (LG) are on the left side. Guards are to the right or left of the center. The guard's job is to protect the quarterback from the incoming linemen during pass plays, as well as creating openings (holes) for the running backs to head through. 2009 NFL Draft
The 2009 NFL Draft was the seventy-fourth annual meeting of National Football League (NFL) franchises to select newly eligible football players. The draft took place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, New York, on April 25 and 26, 2009. The draft consisted of two rounds on the first day, starting at 4:00 pm EDT, and five rounds on the second day, starting at 10:00 am EDT. To compensate for the time change from the previous year and in an effort to help shorten the draft, teams were no longer on the clock for 15 minutes in the first round and 10 minutes in the second round. Lovett Purnell
Lovett Shaizer Purnell (born April 7, 1972), is a former American football tight end in the National Football League. Purnell attended Seaford High but graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and College in Wayne, Pennsylvania before attending West Virginia University. After graduating from WVU, he was selected in the 7th round (216th overall) by the New England Patriots in the 1996 NFL Draft. A member of the Patriots from 1996–1998 and Baltimore Ravens in 1999, Purnell tallied 19 career receptions for 159 yards and 5 touchdowns in 36 career games (7 starts). The tight end (TE) is a position in American football, arena football, and Canadian football, on the offense. The tight end is often a hybrid position with the characteristics and roles of both an offensive lineman and a wide receiver. Like offensive linemen, they are usually lined up on the offensive line and are large enough to be effective blockers. On the other hand, unlike offensive linemen, they are eligible receivers adept enough to warrant a defense's attention when running pass patterns.
