Clube Desportivo de Montijo commonly known as simply as Montijo was a football club from the city of Montijo, Setúbal. The club was founded in 1948 and folded in 2007 due to financial problems. As Clube Desportivo de Montijo, it played in the Primeira Liga on three occasions in the 1972–73, 1973–74, 1976–77 seasons. Former Portuguese international goalkeeper Ricardo played for the club between 1994 and 1995 before being transferred to Boavista. After it folded in 2007 it restarted as Clube OlÃmpico do Montijo on the 11 July 2007. Montijo () is a municipality in Setúbal District in Portugal. Its name was Aldeia Galega do Ribatejo or simply Aldeia Galega until 1930. The population in 2021 was 55,732, in an area of 348.62 km2. The town of Montijo proper had a population of 25,719 in 2001. It is one of the few municipalities in Portugal without territorial continuity; that is, its component parts are not conjoined. The Campeonato de Portugal (Portuguese for 'Championship of Portugal') is the fourth level of the Portuguese football league system.
