Club Deportivo Cacahuatique is a Salvadoran professional football club based in Ciudad Barrios, San Miguel, El Salvador tournament champion apertura 2018. The club currently plays in the Primera División. The club was founded in 1968. History Cacahuatique after 2 previous attempts to win the Segunda División Salvadorean title in Apertura 2021 and Apertura 2023, the club was able to win their first Segunda División Salvadorean title defeating Tiburones de Sonsonate on 2024. Cacahuatique for the first time in their history were promoted to the Primera División on July 1, 2024, after defeating Titan in a playoff match by a score of 4-3 in penalties, after the team were tied 1-1 after 120 minutes. Tercera Division de Fútbol Salvadoreño is the third division of football in El Salvador. The champion is promoted to the Segunda División de El Salvador. The team with the lowest points in each group will be demoted to the amateur league. Structure There are 24 clubs in Tercera Division divided into 4 groups of 10. They play in Apertura and Clausura. The clubs plays every team in each group twice. The top four teams from each group, 16 teams in total, qualify for play-offs to determine the winner of the apertura and clausura title. Nelson Mauricio Ancheta Flores (born 30 July 1963 in Chalchuapa) is a former Salvadoran professional football player and currently manager. Playing career Nelson Ancheta began his career playing at Universidad Católica de El Salvador during his youth. Afterwards he joined Once Lobos where he would play eleven years in two different spells (playing in between the Primera División and Segunda División).
