Buckinghamshire County Council
Buckinghamshire County Council was the upper-tier local authority for the administrative county and later the non-metropolitan county of Buckinghamshire, in England, the United Kingdom established in 1889 following the Local Government Act 1888. The county council's offices were in Aylesbury. The county council borders changed several times, most notably in 1974 when the council lost the territory of Colnbrook, Datchet, Eton, Horton, Slough and Wraysbury to Berkshire. In 1997 it lost the Borough of Milton Keynes, which became a unitary authority remaining within the ceremonial county of Buckinghamshire. The council consisted of 49 councillors. It had been controlled by the Conservatives since the reorganisation of local government in 1974. 2017 Buckinghamshire County Council Election
The 2017 Buckinghamshire County Council election took place on 4 May 2017 as part of the 2017 local elections in the United Kingdom. All 49 councillors were elected from electoral divisions which returned one county councillor each by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office, due to expire in 2021. The Conservative Party retained an overall control on the council, winning 41 of the 49 seats on the council. Of the remaining 9 councillors, there were four Liberal Democrats, three Independents and one Labour. UKIP lost all six of their seats. Due to the replacement of Buckinghamshire County Council by Buckinghamshire Council in 2020, the successor election to this election is the 2021 Buckinghamshire Council election. 2013 Buckinghamshire County Council Election
An election to Buckinghamshire County Council took place on 2 May 2013 as part of the 2013 United Kingdom local elections. 49 councillors were elected from electoral divisions which returned one county councillor each by first-past-the-post voting for a four-year term of office. Following a boundary review, the size of the council was reduced from 57 to 49 members for this election. No elections were held in Milton Keynes, which is a unitary authority outside the area covered by the County Council. The council continues to be administered on the Leader and Cabinet model. The Conservative Party won a reduced majority on the council. All locally registered electors (British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) who were aged 18 or over on Thursday 2 May 2013 were entitled to vote in the local elections. The 2001 Buckinghamshire Council election took place on 7 June 2001 to elect members of Buckinghamshire County Council in England. The whole council was up for election and the Conservative Party stayed in overall control of the council. The election had been postponed from 3 May to be held at the same time as the 2001 general election. Several councillors stood down at the election including the chairman, Ken Ross, and a former Conservative group leader, Mark Greenburgh.
