The Bramwald is a range of hills up to in the Weser Uplands in Lower Saxony (Germany). It is a unique, natural, wild, hill and forest landscape. This is particularly so in the north around the Totenberg. Geography The Bramwald in the northwest of the Münden Nature Park lies in South Lower Saxony some 20 km (as the crow flies) west of Göttingen and 5 km north of the town of Hann. Münden. It lies east of the upper, southern course of the Weser, whose western banks are dominated by the vast Reinhardswald forest in North Hesse. Totenberg
The Totenberg, at , is the highest hill in the Bramwald, a forested hill range in the Weser Uplands in South Lower Saxony. The hill is surrounded by the ''Totenberg nature reserve'' with an area of about 437 hectares, of which 342 ha is managed as "near-natural forest". The rest is designated as ''Naturwald'' (95 ha) where logging is prohibited. Signs indicate that it may not be entered. Geography Location The Totenberg is in the western part of the district of Göttingen in the northern half of the Bramwald and the Münden Nature Park. The River Nieme flows around the lower part of its northern slopes and discharges into the Upper Weser somewhat further west near Bursfelde. Münden Nature Park
The Münden Nature Park lies within the district of Göttingen, in south Lower Saxony in Germany. Geography This large and densely wooded nature park was founded in 1959 within the borders of the now defunct district of Münden. It is just under in area and runs almost from the eastern edge of the town of Kassel and border of Hesse in a northerly direction through the northern part of the Kaufungen Forest via Hann. Münden to the Bramwald and Dransfeld Town Forest. It lies south, east and northeast of the confluence of the Fulda and Werra rivers with the Weser and borders in the south and southeast on the Meißner-Kaufungen Forest Nature Park. It is crossed by the A 7 motorway. Kiffing
The Kiffing is a range of hills, relatively small in area and up to , in the district of Kassel in the German state of Hesse. Geography The Kiffing hills in the extreme north of Hesse belong to the southern ranges of the Weser Uplands. They are located between the southern foothills of the Solling in the north and the northern foothills of the Bramwald in the south. To the northeast and north they are passed by the lower reaches of the river Schwülme, to the southwest and west by a stretch of the Upper Weser, beyond whose western banks looms the Reinhardswald. Weser Uplands
The Weser Uplands (German: ''Weserbergland'', ) is a hill region in Germany, between Hannoversch Münden and Porta Westfalica, along the river Weser. The area reaches into three states, Lower Saxony, Hesse, and North Rhine-Westphalia. Important towns of this region include Bad Karlshafen, Holzminden, Höxter, Bodenwerder, Hameln, Rinteln, and Vlotho. The tales of the Brothers Grimm are set in the Weser Uplands, and it has many renaissance buildings, exhibiting a peculiar regional style, the Weser Renaissance style. The region roughly coincides with the natural region of the Lower Saxon Hills defined by the Federal Agency for Nature Conservation (BfN). Hemeln
Hemeln is an outlying village (''Ortsteil'') in the borough of the town of Hann. Münden. The village lies on the right bank of the Weser River, 12 km from the city proper. The highways L561 and L560 run through the community. The village's population of some 960 includes those of the two neighbouring villages, Glashütte (100 residents)and Bursfelde (40). The parish chair is Alfred Urhahn. The village has numerous social and service organizations, a kindergarten and a grammar school. There are a few inns for food and lodging. Since the village is not too far from Goettingen, it is a popular outing place for the university's students, who can sit in a ''Gaststätte'', enjoying each other's company and the scenery. The earliest known name reference to Hemeln is in 834, the year in which Frankish emperor Ludwig ceded Hemeln to the Corvey Abbey. In 1342 the village was severely flooded.
