Badminton At The 2023 Pan American Games
Badminton competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile were held between October 21 and 25, 2023 at the Olympic Training Center, located in Ñuñoa, a suburb of Santiago. Five medal events were contested: singles and doubles for men and women and a mixed doubles event. A total of 90 athletes competed. The event awarded ranking points towards selection for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France. Qualification A total of 90 athletes (45 men and 45 women) will qualify to compete at the games. A nation may enter a maximum of four athletes per gender. As host nation, Chile automatically qualified a full team of eights athletes. All other quotas will be awarded through the team world rankings as of May 2, 2023. Each nation's highest ranked athlete/pair's points in each of the five events will be added to determine a country's point total. Badminton competitions at the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru were held between July 29 and August 2, 2019 at the Polideportivo 3, which also hosted the roller sports (artistic) and table tennis competitions. Five medal events were contested: singles and doubles for men and women and a mixed doubles event. A total of 88 athletes from 22 nations competed. A total of five NOC's won medals. Josephine Wu
Josephine Yuenling Wu (born 20 January 1995) is a Canadian badminton player. She clinched three Pan American Games gold medals by winning the mixed doubles title in 2019 and 2023, and also the women's doubles title in 2023. At the Pan Am Championships, she won seven golds, and five silver medals since her debut at the tournament in 2016. Early and personal life Wu is currently a business student at the University of Alberta and has been competing in badminton since she was seven years old. Fabrício Ruan Rocha Farias (born 8 May 2000) is a Brazilian badminton player from Joca Claudino Esportes badminton club. He won the bronze medals at the 2019 Pan American Games in the men's doubles with his brother, Francielton Farias, and also in the mixed doubles with Jaqueline Lima.
