Athletics competitions at the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago, Chile were held on October 22, between October 29 and November 4, 2023 at the Athletics Stadium in the Julio Martínez National Stadium Coliseum, with the marathon and walks being held in the Santiago streets. A total of 48 events will be contested, equally divided among men and women. Qualification A total of 778 athletes will qualify to compete. Each nation may enter a maximum of two athletes in each individual event (provided the second person is the reigning 2022 area champion), and one team per relay event. Each event has a maximum number of competitors and a minimum performance standard. Chile as host nation, is granted an automatic athlete slot per event, in the event no one qualifies for that respective event. Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos
Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos (originally known as Estadio Nacional) is the national stadium of Chile, and is located in the Ñuñoa district of Santiago. It is the largest stadium in Chile with an official capacity of 48,665. It is part of a 62 hectare sporting complex which also features tennis courts, an aquatics center, a modern gymnasium, a velodrome, a BMX circuit, and an assistant ground/warmup athletics track. Construction began in February 1937 and the stadium was inaugurated on December 3, 1938. The architecture was based on the Olympiastadion in Berlin, Germany. The 2023 Pan American Games ( es, Juegos Panamericanos de 2023, links=no), officially the XIX Pan American Games and commonly known as Santiago 2023, is a forthcoming international multi-sport event governed by the Panam Sports Organization, scheduled to be held in Santiago, Chile from 20 October to 5 November 2023. These are the first Pan American Games to be held in Chile, and the eighth to be held in South America. Athletics At The 2023 European Games
The 2023 European Athletics Team Championships (ETC) in athletics will be held in Stadion Śląski in June 2023. The event was first planned to be held in Madrid, but after European Athletics and European Olympic Committee reached to an agreement, the event was added to the 2023 European Games programme and moved to Poland. Madrid will host the 2025 ETC.
