Anzegem
Anzegem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Anzegem proper, Gijzelbrechtegem, Ingooigem, Kaster, Tiegem and Vichte. On 1 January 2006 Anzegem had a total population of 14,609. The total area is 41.79 km² which gives a population density of 349 inhabitants per km². One of the most famous inhabitants of Anzegem was Stijn Streuvels, the Flemish writer who died in Ingooigem in 1969, aged 98. On the night of 16 October 2014, Anzegem's medieval parish church of Saint John the Baptist (''Sint Jan de Doperkerk'' in Dutch) was destroyed in a fire. Kaster
Kaster is a village in West Flanders, Belgium. According to the 2005 census it has a population of 803. Vichte
Vichte is a village in the municipality of Anzegem, in the south of West Flanders, Flanders, Belgium. It has 4,345 inhabitants (2004). Small, densely populated village with an important textile industry. Famous for its 12th century Roman Catholic church (now serving as a cultural centre) and its privately owned castle constructed by the Iseux family in the 16th century giving the village original coat of arms (D'or frette de sable). The most famous member of this family was Jeanne Iseux, Dame de la Vichte et des deux treilles, who married the Baron de la Croix de Drumez. Stijn Streuvels
Stijn Streuvels (3 October 1871, Heule, Kortrijk - 15 August 1969, Ingooigem, Anzegem), born Franciscus (Frank) Petrus Maria Lateur, was a Flemish Belgian writer. Biography He started writing at a very young age. He was inspired by his uncle, the celebrated poet Guido Gezelle. Until 1905 he worked as a baker at Avelghem, a village near Kortrijk. Initially his work was published in an insignificant magazine, ''De jonge Vlaming'' (The young Fleming). Soon he was discovered by the editors of a new magazine, ''Van Nu en Straks'' (From Now and Soon). After their first encounter, Emmanuel de Bom became his mentor and advised him to publish his work in book form. In 1905 he married Alida Staelens. They had 4 children: Paula (1906), Paul (1909), Dina (1916) and Isa (1922). In 1980 their house became a museum dedicated to Streuvels. Zwevegem () is a municipality located in the Belgian province of West Flanders. The municipality comprises the towns of Heestert, Moen, Otegem, Sint-Denijs and Zwevegem.
