King's College London
King's College London (informally King's or KCL) is a public university, public research university in London, England. King's was established by royal charter in 1829 under the patronage of George IV of the United Kingdom, King George IV and the Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, Duke of Wellington. In 1836, King's became one of the two founding colleges of the University of London. It is one of the Third-oldest university in England debate, oldest university-level institutions in England. Maurice Bishop
Maurice Rupert Bishop (29 May 1944 – 19 October 1983) was a Grenada, Grenadian revolutionary and the leader of the New Jewel Movement (NJM) – a Marxist–Leninist party that sought to prioritise socio-economic development, education and black liberation. The NJM came to power during the 13 March 1979 revolution which removed Prime Minister Eric Gairy from office. Bishop headed the People's Revolutionary Government (Grenada), People's Revolutionary Government of Grenada (PRG) from 1979 to 1983. In October 1983, he was deposed as Prime Minister and executed during a coup engineered by Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard. This quickly led to the demise of the PRG. Zubir Ahmed
Zubir Ahmed (born ) is a Scottish Labour Party politician and surgeon serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Glasgow South West since 2024. Early life and medical career Ahmed was born to Pakistani parents who emigrated to Scotland in the 1960s, and was the eldest of five children. His father was a taxi driver and he grew up in Govanhill, Glasgow. Ahmed was awarded a scholarship to attend Hutchesons' Grammar School, where he was a contemporary of Anas Sarwar and Humza Yousaf. He received a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Glasgow in 2005, where he studied alongside Sarwar once again. He was awarded a Master of Science in healthcare from University College London in 2012, a doctorate in transplantation from King's College London in 2019, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde in 2020. Godfrey Binaisa
Godfrey Lukongwa Binaisa QC (30 May 1920 – 5 August 2010) was a Ugandan lawyer and politician who served as the fifth president of Uganda from June 1979 to May 1980. Earlier, he was Attorney General of Uganda from 1962 to 1968. At the time of his death in 2010, he was Uganda's only surviving former president. Education and early career Born in Kampala, Binaisa was initially a lawyer. He was educated at King's College Budo and Makerere College. He then earned an LLB from King's College London in 1955 and was called to the Bar at Lincoln's Inn in 1956. He was appointed a Queen's counsel (QC) and had a private law practice in Kampala. Senate House, London
Senate House is the administrative centre of the University of London, situated in the heart of Bloomsbury, London, immediately to the north of the British Museum. The Art Deco building was constructed between 1932 and 1937 as the first phase of a large uncompleted scheme designed for the university by Charles Holden. It consists of 19 floors and is high. During the Second World War, the building's use by the Ministry of Information inspired two works of fiction by English writers. John Freeman (diplomat)
John Patrick George Freeman (born 25 March 1951) is a retired British diplomat who until July 2019 was Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Career Freeman was educated at King's College London where he gained a PhD in 1986 with the thesis titled ''"Britain's nuclear arms control policy in the context of Anglo-American relations 1957–68"'', which later became a book published by Macmillan. He subsequently joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) in 1986, serving at first as Head of the South Africa Section, 1986–1989. France-Albert René (; 16 November 1935 – 27 February 2019) was a Seychellois lawyer, politician and statesman who served as the second President of Seychelles from 1977 to 2004. He also served as the country's second Prime Minister from its independence in 1976 to 1977. He was a member of United Seychelles. Lee Moore (politician)
Sir Lee Llewellyn Moore (15 February 1939 – 6 May 2000) served as Premier of Saint Kitts and Nevis from 20 May 1979 to 21 February 1980. He was a member of the Saint Kitts and Nevis Labour Party. He graduated with an LLB from King's College London, and later earned an LLM and a Diploma in Theology. Lee became an aide to Premier Robert Llewellyn Bradshaw in 1967, and was appointed attorney general in 1971. He became Deputy Premier in the cabinet of Paul Southwell. When Southwell died, Lee became Premier in 1979 but lost in the 1980 general election. He remained as leader of the opposition until 1984, when he lost his seat in the National Assembly. Natalia Gherman
Natalia Gherman ( Snegur; born 20 March 1969) is a Moldovan politician who has been serving as executive director of the United Nations' Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate since 2023. Gherman served as minister of foreign affairs and European integration and Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova from May 2013 to January 2016. She later served as special representative of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Asia (UNRCCA) from 2017 to 2023. Born in Chișinău in 1969, Gherman is the daughter of Mircea Snegur, the first president of Moldova.
