Club Alianza Atlético de Sullana is a Peruvian association football, football club, located in the city of Sullana, Piura region, Piura. The club was founded in 1920 and promoted to the Primera División Peruana, Peruvian Primera División in 1988. They are the only Peruvian top-tier club not based in a state capital. History The club was founded January 18, 1920. It been present for the first time in an end of Peru Cup in 1984 where obtained the subchampionship under Los Espartanos of Pacasmayo. The Peruvian football champions are the winners of the highest league in Peruvian football, which is currently named as Liga 1 and organized by Peruvian Football Federation. The Liga Peruana de Football was established in 1912. It was an amateur league that lasted until 1921 due to scheduling and organizing conflicts. In this league only teams from Lima participated. In 1926, the Peruvian Football Federation took control of organizing the tournament and continued the Peruvian Primera División with the introduction of teams from Callao. The match became notable for causing a controversy after it was annulled because of a pitch invasion from Peruvian supporters who had assaulted the Austrian players. 2011 Torneo Descentralizado
The 2011 Torneo Descentralizado de Fútbol Profesional (known as the 2011 Copa Movistar for sponsorship reasons) was the ninety-fifth season of Association Peruvian football. A total of 16 teams competed in the tournament, with Universidad de San Martín as the defending champion. The Torneo Descentralizado began on 12 February and concluded on 14 December with the victory of Juan Aurich over Alianza Lima in the penalty kicks of the final Play-off, giving Juan Aurich its debut Peruvian title. Competition modus The sixteen teams played a round-robin home-and-away round for a total of 30 matches each.
