Akluj
Akluj is a town on the banks of Nira in Solapur district, Maharashtra, India. Akluj was earlier known for its large trade in cotton, which has almost disappeared at present. It is on the bank of River Nira. The town and surrounding area is agriculturally rich. Former deputy chief minister of Maharashtra, Vijaysinh Mohite–Patil was the sarpanch of Akluj. Historical background Akluj is one of the biggest grampanchayat of Maharashtra. The name Akluj is believed to be derived from 'Shri Akalai Devi' which is Gramadevata of Akluj. In Mughal period it was changed as Asadnagar for some time. We can see the land fort in Akluj. It was built by Yadav king Raja Singhan in the 13th century. Shankarrao Mohite-Patil was an Indian politician and member of the Congress party. Career He started his legislative career by representing Akluj in the erstwhile Bombay Legislative Assembly from 1952 to 1960. Vijaysinh Shankarao Mohite-Patil (born 12 June 1944) is a politician from the Nationalist Congress Party and Member of Parliament (MP) for Madha in Maharashtra since the 2014 general election. He is member of Nationalist Congress Party. Prior to that he served as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Sangola
Sangole or (Sangola) is a city with a municipal council in Solapur district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is situated near Holy city Pandharpur . It is located at the intersection of state highways SH-161, SH-3, and SH-71. Traditionally, in many historic records this area was part of the Mandesh region. Its name is derived from the Maan River. Nira River
Nira is a river flowing through the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is a tributary of the Bhima river and flows through Pune and Solapur districts of Maharashtra. Karha is a tributary of Nira. Karad Airport
Karad Airport is in the Satara district of Maharashtra state in India. Its airstrip was built in 1955 by the Public Works Department to facilitate the Koyna dam project. The airport is currently used for general aviation and piloting. It currently covers 65 acres; the acquisition of more than 100 acres has been proposed. Runway 10/28 is 1280 metres long and 30 metres wide with a 60-by-60-metre apron. No navigational aids or night landing facilities are available on the airstrip. Phaltan () is a town, a tehsil, and a municipal council in the Satara district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. The town is about northeast of the city of Satara and about 110 km from Pune. Daund is a city, municipal council and headquarters of the Daund tehsil in the Pune district in the state of Maharashtra, India.
