ACS Poli Timișoara
Asociația Club Sportiv Poli Timișoara (), commonly known as ACS Poli Timișoara, Poli Timișoara or simply ACS Poli, was a Romanian professional football club based in the city of Timișoara, Timiș County. The team was founded in 2012, the year the old FC Politehnica Timișoara went bankrupt. ACS Recaș was moved to Timișoara and—supported by the City Council of Timișoara and the Timiș County Council—was meant to continue the history of the original entity. It promoted to the top flight in the 2013–14 season, however attendances were modest as the majority of the former fans chose to support ASU Politehnica Timișoara instead. The Polytechnic University of Timișoara ceased the FC Politehnica brand and records for free use to ACS Poli between 2012 and 2021, but then moved them to ASU Politehnica during the latter year. Fotbal Club Politehnica Timișoara (), commonly known as Politehnica Timișoara or simply Poli Timișoara, was a Romanian football club from Timișoara, Timiș County, established in 1921 and dissolved in 2012. During its existence, the team won two Cupa României trophies and was twice runner-up in the Liga I. It amassed 49 seasons in the latter competition. Named after and initially run by the Polytechnic University of Timișoara, the club was founded in 1921 by mathematician Traian Lalescu. After two decades spent in the regional leagues, Politehnica promoted to the top flight in 1948. It claimed its first trophy in the 1957–58 season, when it defeated Progresul București in the national cup final. The 2016–17 Liga I (also known as Liga 1 Betano for sponsorship reasons) was the 99th season of the Liga I, the top professional league for Romanian association football clubs. The season began on 22 July 2016 and concluded on 5 June 2017, being the second to take place since the play-off/play-out format has been introduced. FC Viitorul Constanța, Viitorul Constanța were crowned champions for the first time in their history. Teams The last two teams from the 2015–16 Liga I, 2015–16 season, ACS Poli Timișoara and FC Petrolul Ploiești, Petrolul Ploiești, were relegated to their respective 2016–17 Liga II division. UM Timișoara was a Romanian professional football club from Timișoara, Romania, founded in 1960 and dissolved in 2008. History The football team of ''Uzinele Mecanice Timișoara'' was founded in 1960, playing in the first years of its existence in the Ronaț neighborhood on the field that would later become the Stadionul Gheorghe Rășcanu. The 2021–22 Liga II (also known as 2021–22 Liga II Casa Pariurilor) was the 82nd season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. A total of 20 teams contested the league. It was the sixth Liga II season with a single series. In the regular season each team played every other team once, then followed a promotion play-off and a relegation play-out. The first two teams promoted to Liga I at the end of the season and the third-placed and fifth-placed team played a play-off match against the 13th-placed and 14th-placed team from Liga I.
